6 Concerts this Fall from Music’s Greatest Era

Fall: the time when the leaves change, the days get shorter, and the temps get colder. It’s also a time, at least this fall, when some of your favorite musical acts from your youth take the stage. These bands and artists helped shape an entire generation. From anti-Vietnam War songs and rock ballads to sappy love songs, these acts will give you all sorts of nostalgic feels.

Seeing your old favorites in person? Now that sounds like a good excuse for a vacation! Check out our list of six acts touring this fall and where to travel to see them play.

The Eagles – Chicago, Illinois

October 15, 2018

The United Center

Remember slow dancing to “Desperado”? Don Henley’s smooth vocals made you wish the song would go on forever. We’re willing to bet you’ll feel the same come October 15 when Henley and the Eagles perform in the Windy City during their North American Tour. If you’ve got time, stay for a few days after the show and check out all the cool things around Chicago like Navy Pier and Willis Tower.

Bob Dylan – Orlando, Florida

October 26, 2018

Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts

The man who revolutionized folk music is back on tour this year. After rolling like a stone through Europe and Asia, Dylan will be gracing stages throughout America from October through the end of the year. Whether you were an active protester or a college student just looking for something different to listen to, this show will put you back in the 1960s in no time. The times are a changin’, but the music is still great. And if you really want to feel young again, explore one of the many theme parks in the area while you’re in town.

Brian Wilson – Huntington, West Virginia

November 6, 2018

Keith Albee Performing Arts Center

The most famous and well-known of the Beach Boys may also be the most low-key member. But that doesn’t mean Brian Wilson has slowed down his music production. The man behind some of the best tunes of your high school years takes the stage in Huntington, West Virginia, for a night of music you won’t soon forget. Plus, after the show you can recount all the songs you heard over drinks at The Lantern, just down the street.

Van Morrison – Oakland, California

November 14, 2018

Fox Theater

The Irish whiskey will be flowing in mid-November when Sir George Ivan Morrison takes the stage at the legendary Fox Theater. Expect classics from your early adulthood like “Brown-Eyed Girl” and “Into the Mystic” to new stuff from his latest album, “You’re Driving Me Crazy.” If you’re in town for a few days, take a ferry out to Angel Island for a day of incredible hiking.

Fleetwood Mac – Portland, Oregon

November 19, 2018

Moda Center

As far as we’re concerned, Fleetwood Mac could play every night from now until the end of time and that’d be just fine. After you see them at the Moda Center in Portland, you’ll understand why. Stevie Nicks’ gorgeous, flowing sleeves look as dazzling as they did when you first saw them back in the 1970s. If you want to learn more about Fleetwood Mac and some of your other favorite bands from that era, head to nearby Powell’s City of Books and see what you can find in their music section.

Phil Collins – Las Vegas, Nevada

October 27, 2018

MGM Grand Garden Arena

“In the Air Tonight,” “Another Day in Paradise,” “Sussidio,” “Two Hearts,” and hundreds more—did Phil Collins write and sing anything during your youth that wasn’t a hit? And what better place to belt out some of those hits from your teenage years than in Vegas? You could explore the Mob Museum, ride a terrifying roller coaster, and eat a fine steak dinner all before the opening act starts.

If you attended one of these shows, we’d be happy. If you attended all of them, we’d be downright jealous. Hopefully you see a show in this lineup that will bring you back to the “Summer of Love.”
