Nice seafront hotel with orriental style, very close to Old Stone Town with nice terrace and rooftop restaurants. Reccomended!

The building has an interesting history and is furnished and equipped in authentic detail. The location is easy walking distance from the Dar ferry; across the street is a fishermen's beach, which is also where many boat tours start. Food was good both in the main restaurant (overlooking the beach) and in the small coffee shop at street level.

We liked the place. Room was great etc. The elevator is funky, requiring patrons to fully close cage door when exiting. If not done properly, others can't use. Otherwise, the place was great.

A charming old-fashioned hotel, that reminds you of the history of Zanzibar and Stonetown, its capital in particular. Lovely antiques, and gorgeous views of the waterfront and its activities from the breakfast room as well as from some of the rooms at the front. (We had one). Spectacular sunsets. Only fault of the hotel, is that the safety deposit box in the room didn't work. Also, it is a dry hotel, no alcohol, but there are charming bars everywhere, and there's Freddy's pub across the road. We will return for another stay.

Goof location In walking distance for many things. My room was facing a building with renovations in progress so was noisy in the morning. The towels in my room was not clean enough with some stains.

Positive -architecture of the hotel is very unique Average breakfast. Negative- dirty room cocroches in the room very uncomfortable bed noisy location slow sevice at the restaurant uneatable foot served for a dinner dirty chairs and table at the restaurant some staff with attitudes Overall below average hotel, definitely not recommended. I am also not sure if I got the correct room. I booked the presidential suite. The room look different than the one from the expedia website picture and does not feel like a presidential at all- very basic . Good that we stayed only one night.

We have visited Zanzibar many times. This is the first time we stayed at this hotel and it will be the last. The staff are very friendly, but the service was very poor. I paid extra and reserved the presidential suite. After arriving to our room, I realized they had put us in a regular sea view room. When I asked about the suite, I was told it was undergoing some renovation. There was no offer to reimburse us for the incorrect room, nor any offer for any extra service. In fact, we even tried to get a later check out and we’re denied. Unfortunately they already had my money for suite thru Expedia…so beware when booking your room..!!

This is a very old and historic building used by the sultan as a vacation home. The common areas are all stunning from the pool, the riad and the water fountain in the court yard. The vibes are 10/10. Rooms are massive. You will feel like a rockstar on your in your giant suite overlooking the water. The balcony was HUGE and the best view. It’s the perfect spot for Instagram photos! The downside is the rooms are very dated. While I recognize the property is very old, things like a modern bedding, a duvet, new flooring and a fresh coat of paint would give this property a nice face lift. 8/10 Breakfast was decent. You can order fresh eggs and there is an assortment of fruits, pastries, and hot items. I found the hot items to be a bit sub par so I just ate the eggs and toast and fruit and I was happy. 8/10.

Das Hotel erinnert an ein Riad in Marakesch. Mal was anderes. Suite mit Meerblick ist schön. Bad mit Tür nach oben offen etwas unpraktisch weil man keine Privatsphäre hat. Einrichtung im Hotel echt schön und mal was anderes. Frühstück ist super. Viel Auswahl. Es gibt keinen Alkohol im Hotel. Pool schön aber keine Liegen. Strand ist nicht zum Sonnen geeignet da das Hotel direkt an einem Fährhafen liegt. Daher auch ziemlich laut. Lage aber zentral um alle Sehenswürdigkeiten gut zu Fuß zu sehen. Personal eher zurückhaltend aber hilfsbereit

Omar who managed the breakfast service was excellent and immediately put guests at ease with his warmth and attentiveness. Young Mohammed on staff was great and highly responsive to guest needs and carried himself with professionalism like all of the staff. The hotel has excellent location and high walk ability to Stone Town attractions. I particularly liked my room with seafront view. The property is very well managed and a place for potential improvement is considering a ventilation system for the bathroom.

The property is really beautiful and has a lovely restaurant on the second floor with a great view of the ocean. My only complaint is that they didn't have a beer/wine selection, but that was minor.

A perfect location in the Town. Lovely breakfast choice, helpful friendly staff. The pool was shaded but a welcome relief. The room was huge and hreat. The taps were a bit wonky but othetwise a hotel that i could easily recommend
