Mark checked us in and gladly gave us the room we requested. Everything was super clean, staff were friendly and restaurant had good food and beer we like. We had the rib eye, brisket, some ipas and a pizza to go. We stay here every trip to Payson area.

Beautiful property, we have stayed here multiple times and it never disappoints! Staff is kind and helpful. The rooms are cozy with fireplaces in some rooms. Definitely recommend!
The property was very nice, clean, and had lots to do if you wanted and very relaxing if
you didn't want. The only irritant was that the restaurant was not open for breakfast until Thursday-Sunday. Closed Monday and Tuesday so if you go during the 1st of the
week realize you will have to cook your own meals or leave the property.
Kohl’s Lodge is a clean and quiet respite cozily nestled in the trees of the Tonto Nat. Forest. Between Holbrook (Petrified National Park area) and Phoenix AZ, it is an excellent retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. KR is super clean, has great amenities, and very accommodating to families and the solo traveler looking for a peaceful place to spend some time. I’ve stayed here three times and am always amazed by how reinvigorated I feel after each visit. Friendly, welcoming staff and I always feel welcome. Check it out- you won’t be let down!!
The main problem of this property is the lack if restaurante on Monday and Tuesday, it is very inconvenient to have to drive 15 minutes to town for food.
The hotel does not even offer continental breakfast or other tupe if breakfast.

We were given one of the worst rooms by the parking… people park their car with engine idling on our room. Asked to change room since we checked in earlier than most, but were told that because we booked by 3rd party (Hotels.com) they keep their better rooms to their direct clients… shocking!!
The hotel is nice. The restaurant sucks. Clam chowder, had no clams, the french fries were dead, cold, and greasy, the cheeseburger wasnt bad, but the bun was better. It took 20 minutes to get waited on and 30 minutes to get the cold food. The restaurant hours and days of operation is ridiculous. Closed Monday and Tuesday. Strange hours the rest of the time. This pace is in the middle of nowhere. It is important the restaurant is open everyday. Otherwise you have to drive back to Payson for breakfast which ruins the idea of staying so far out.
Unlike most reviews we had wifi the whole time. We were in the main building close to the front desk. TV options very limited. No premium channels. Free DVD movies might be fine if you have kids or are under 40. Wed. night, only the bar was open for food and closed at 8pm. There are no close options so if you are a captive, at least the bar might stay open till 10pm. Bar music playing in the courtyard by the pool and jacuzzi at 8:30 am. Perhaps some peace an quiet in the morning. All being said had a nice time.
We booked this property to enjoy the cooler weather in Payson AZ. We live in Phoenix. Upon arrival we were asked to pay a "RESORT" fee on top of the booking fee with Expedia. This is a tactic to get additional revenue from customers while showing a lower booking fee. This property is not a resort. It has rooms similar in size and layout to a Super 8, and the amenities include a small pool and hot tub. There is no rationale as to why and how this is a resort. And, if it is a resort, include the fee in the room charge, as participation in the resort is not optional.
While the fee was only $21, this is a disingenuous business practice that preys on us, the customers. This is the epitome of bad profits, as we will not stay here again, and we probably would were it not for these tactics to garner more profit.
