We have stayed here before and find it is an excellent location for exploring York,our room was very clean and the bed gave us a comfortable sleep.Dan cooks a great breakfast and nothing is too much trouble, I would definitely recommend the Lighthorseman .

Stayed for one night while seeing a band at The Barbican, which is less than a 5 mins walk away. Not far for city centre & bus stops nearby if required. Clean enough room, ideal for what I needed. Decent breakfast served by friendly & informative owner. Would use again for similar stay.

I booked this accommodation as a stopover after york races and it met every expectation I had. Great location' clean room ' good value food and alcohol and a simple check in. Possibly the only negative was the road noise but at the price I paid it was still a great choice to stay. Thanks.

Lovely old-fashioned pub with a warm welcome We had a lovely overnight stay here. It’s a charming, old-fashioned pub with friendly and helpful staff who made us feel very welcome. The rooms are no-frills but have everything you need—spotlessly clean, with crisp white bedding and a really comfortable bed. We had a great night’s sleep. It’s also in a great location, with free car park and just a 10-minute stroll into York city centre. At such a bargain price, we were really impressed. Would definitely recommend and would happily stay again!

It was quirky and I loved the whole atmosphere. I didn’t use the bar just the room , shower was hot and the bus nearby was great , also the river and wall walks were close by as well .
