Really nice stay - modern trendy room with a turntable and four poster bed - lovely pantry room and a really cool bar with a working model train - very friendly nice service in the bar - one word of caution is that we did get blocked in in the car park!

Fantastic stay all round. Room was lovely, so touched with the little extras for our baby (tipi and toys in room and cot all setup). Food at the hotel restaurant was really good, and spa was amazing.

Loved the unique features - a free snack pantry (sweets, drinks, fruit etc.), traditional record player in each room and records to pick and choose from, quirky but tasteful decorations. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Very comfortable, clean, spacious bedrooms and bathrooms with easy to use push button bath/shower (no trying to work out which knob or lever to push or pull!), very comfortable underfloor heating in the bathroom. Lovely, comfortable lounge and bar and excellent restaurant.

I’ve stayed in their sister hotel No42 in Margate a couple of times and it’s excellent. Well No1 York did not disappoint it was beautiful friendly and luxurious! I love this little group of hotels and can’t recommend highly enough! One rue of thumb for me with hotels is how much the staff are invested and seem proud to work there and they do in spades here. Just fabulous, I’ll be back.

We had a wonderful stay at the No. 1 Guest House. The lodgings were cozy and comfortable (very big bed!); there were snacks for guests; it was close to city centre; hotel bar was also nice.
