Barcelo is a beautiful, well maintained resort. Very family friendly - which is good and bad - depending on your travel situation. Tons of pool options - but people do save chairs starting at 6 AM despite the resort stating it is prohibited. Our initial experience at the Premier Level check in was quite bad. Long wait to be served and then no room ready an hour after check in. Staff was hurried and distracted. In their defense, they are working with antiquated systems that are in desperate need of updating. Barcelo CIO needs to invest in modern systems. After that though - all the staff across the property were so friendly and worked hard to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Buffet’s had a good selection - they do chicken and pork really well….beef, not so much. The a la carte restaurants were nice. We loved the French restaurant. Premier Level gets you an hour each day of Hydrotherapy which I can’t recommend enough! Amaaaaazing. Despite the few hiccups, I recommend Barcelo. The adults only and Colonial looked fantastic and I may select those in the future…but for. A family, the Palace is great!

The property and pools were great. Our room was very musty and wet. Bathroom shower had lots of blak mold. All our clothes were damp just from hanging in the closet. The sheets were damp, nothing ever dried in the room. They definitely need some room updates. The hotel itself is beautiful.
