This place was different from anything we have stayed in before. The decor was interesting & there was a lot of touches that showed the owner paid attention to details. Our stay was pleasant.

We like the historical nature of the property. Did not mind at all that the bathroom was down the hall and the creaky nature of the old building. But... It would have been nice to have some tissues in the room. Also, we think you should present the rooms as NOT having TV service (bring a book) rather than what was a frustrating time finding a channel and keeping service.

The staff was very helpful from the time we booked our room until time we left. They offered a small bottle of red or white wine and asked my preference before we arrived as well as confirming when room was ready. The breakfast was great, which comes with the room. The room was very spacious, comfortable beds and loved the Victorian decor. We will be back.

We lived staying at the Shaffer Inn ! Everyone was super friendly including Randall, Alyssa and Molly. The Wachovia room was enormous and well decorated, included a very nice bathroom with all the amenities you could ask for. Oh and the breakfast was fantastic !

My husband and I stayed in the Piedmont Suite. It was a really nice room. It was very large with a sitting area. The architecture of this historical home is beautiful. The restaurant is nice with wonderful gourmet food. The staff are nice and very accommodating. The location is perfect. We really enjoyed our stay and plan to return!

The property was very clean and beautiful, but after 4 or 5PM it didnt seem like there was staff on site. I had no issues that needed staff. It is located right off the highway which was great. But I had to search for places to eat, nothing around, didnt seem like any restaurants within walking distance. The only food on site was breakfast between 8-1AM. There was water, hot choc and coffee in the room. This is the only reason I would not stay again.

We loved our stay! The staff was wonderful, the bed was super comfortable and the room was very clean. Included a delicious breakfast with the best biscuits I have ever eaten. She is a charming old lady. Maybe a little past her prime but her age just adds to her personality. This is a unique property that was once a grand home, so enjoy it for that. She is not your usual cookie-cutter chain. You will sleep in a room that was once, long ago, someone’s bedroom. The staff was perfect. The split of wine waiting for us in our room was a nice touch, and the complimentary table service breakfast really sealed the experience.
