Windermere Lake and Canadian Rockies
Mt. Swansea is a great #OnTheRoad destination. The mountain has several multi-use recreation trails and can be a very challenging or relatively relaxing destination. You can choose to hike or bike up and down the mountain, or you can drive up to a parking lot a mere 15-munute hike from the beautiful summit with sweeping views of the Columbia Valley (high-clearance vehicle recommended). Once you reach the summit, you can often watch paragliders launch and fly. There's also a hang gliding launch, picnic tables, and an outhouse. The road up the mountain is gated and closed in winter, but you can still reach the summit by hiking or snowshoeing. This area is an absolute winter wonderland and the sunsets from the summit are magical!
