Perfect Windermere Stay

Great place to stay! We had a lovely break and stayed here for New Years, the location is amazing (10 min walk to the main Bowness area) and the service by the team was exceptional. We will definitely be staying here again on our next visit to the lakes.

Great stay for 2 nights. Check in was easy. Though the room for 3 persons was a little tight, it was cosy with adequate walking space. Just be mindful that opening of big luggage could be a challenge in the limited area. Breakfast options were great and hosts were most friendly. Certainly a recommended accommodation in Windermere. Within walking distance to restaurants, shops and shopping. Love it!

We loved everything about Oakfold House. The quiet yet close to everything location, the beautiful room and view from our room, delicious breakfast. Easy access to buses to explore the many towns around the lake, as we did not have a car. Chris and Robyn were extremely helpful and lovely to chat to - cannot recommend highly enough.

Can’t wait to return!

We had a lovely stay and were met by Robyn and Chris, who were willing to accommodate us dropping our bags off early. It was a really lovely surprise to find our bags in our room when we returned later! The room was really comfortable with all of the little luxuries that we’d need and extras available in the guest lounge if we needed them. Breakfast was delicious and had everything we could possibly want. Lovely fresh local produce too! We’d love to stay here again and would recommend to friends and family.

Fantastic B & B with lovely hosts

Victorian B& B, perfectly situated in a quiet part of Bowness, an easy walk to restaurants, shops, and lake Windermere. Convenient to bus service to Windermere, Ambleside, and Grasmere. Clare and Robert were superb and attentive hosts, really made you feel at home. They provided fantastic recommendations for hikes, restaurants and activities. Breakfast in the bright drawing room with a large picture window overlooking the garden was hardy, with choices from full English to vegetarian to light fare. Impeccably clean throughout. Relaxing garden, comfortable, quiet room - couldn’t have hoped for better!

Couldn’t fault a thing!

Stayed here for 2 nights in the middle of the week, in winter so I imagine it was much quieter than it will be in the summer. Hotel was absolutely superb- extremely comfortable, clean, with a relaxing atmosphere. It is decorated very well, lovely art on the walls, very tasteful. We stayed in the smallest double room available- a really cosy attic room- and we did not find that the size was an issue, it did not feel cramped. At night it was very quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was also delicious- there are definitely options for everyone- and the extras (such as some free fudge and teas and hot chocolate for the room) were very much appreciated. Staff were lovely and welcoming- all in all a really enjoyable experience! Hopefully we will be returning there one day.
