Festive vacation stay

Juhan and his family went above and beyond for us and our xmas eve festivities. Great service, great food, spacious rooms and a view and setting that really does the name justice. Highly recommend!

Luxuriöse Ruhe

Versteckt in den Hügeln von Wilderness liegt dieses kleine wunderbare Hotel. Es verfügt über nur 8 Suiten, die allesamt sehr gemütlich eingerichtet sind. Super freundliches Personal in diesem bestens geführten Familienbetrieb. Neben Wasserkocher für Kaffee oder Tee sind auch Kopfschmerztabletten, Mineralwasser, Antimückenspray und eine Minibar vorhanden. Die absolute Ruhe mit entferntem Vogelgezwitscher ist wunderbar. Auf jeden Fall sollte ein Auto vorhanden sein, sonst ist es zu schwierig, dorthin zu kommen. Wer gepflegten Luxus und Ruhe sucht, ist hier absolut richtig.

Wunderschönes Hotel inmitten unberührter Natur. Sehr zu empfehlen! Die Anreise ist ein bisschen komplizeirt aber es lohnt sich sehr! Die Gastgeber sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.

Three Night Stay

Arrived at Shangri-La down a single track road from Hoekwil and found ourselves in a beautiful place in the forest. We were met by David who gave us a very warm welcome and showed us to our room. Wow - it was huge. There was the bedroom area with two big double beds, the sitting room area with tables, couch, chairs etc. and then a large bathroom area with a shower and corner bath. Then there was the balcony which ran the length of the room with stunning views over the forest. The shower had plenty of hot water, towels were large and soft as were the bathrobes. Toiletries were lovely. Beds were very comfortable. There were tea/coffee making facilities, safe, refrigerator and air conditioning that was very efficient - we just had this on at night, otherwise we had the doors open to enjoy the forest sights and sounds. We also had a complimentary bottle of water each day each. Breakfast was delicious and we had dinner here all three nights which was cooked by our hosts which was excellent. The grounds and garden areas were very pleasant to walk round and we enjoyed sitting out by the outdoor pool overlooking the forest. Furniture throughout the house was beautiful as was the art. Everywhere was cosy, comfortable, peaceful, tranquil, relaxing and delightful. This is a home in which we were made to feel very, very welcome. Loved it and looking forward to returning.

Spooky but relaxing

Fantastic manor, you want to know more about its history and glory days. Lovely views, very quiet and relaxing. Good service. Felt a little bit like being in a horror movie though. Sooo quiet and spooky being alone there. Breakfast was ok. Close to hiking trails. Wilderness is cosy with good food!

An absolute gem - Do Not Overlook

The Shangrila is an absolute gem of a find. Off the beaton track it offers the highest of standards with its fundermental purpose being to provide guests excellence in service. You overlook the mountains and can observe the piece and tranquility of nature, residing within the wilderness. Yet, at all times safety is the highest of priorities.
