“I was really looking forward to my stay at The Candlesticks. However as soon as I entered, I began to have my doubts. The bar area, where the owner received us, looked particularly shabby and it smelt musty. It was 3pm (an hour after checking-in should have started) and the room wasn't ready. It wasn't such a big deal, but it was another warning sign. I was in a single room, which made a certain saying about a cat spring to mind. “Clean room, comfortable bed, excellent shower, superb service where nothing was too much trouble. good menu choice for evening meals - the lasagna was absolutely excellent with a great side salad and the best chips I've had for ages. The draught beer was great and not over priced .... all in all, to be recommended!”
