New people just taken over making a great start. They & staff are all so friendly & welcoming. Food is so tasty & plenty of it. Will definitely be going back.
Lovely place to stay, rooms overlooking the rear garden. Quick and easy to check in at the bar. All the staff were really friendly and the food was delicious. I would recommend the pie 👍
I travelled 250 miles to stay here overnight before and event the next morning. We spent the evening in the bar/restaurant, the food was good and the staff were really friendly. The rooms are basic but comfortable and clean. We were not going to be around for breakfast, so they made us a packed lunch which was a nice touch

Sunday night stay
Upon arrival we were checked in by a member of staff and she took us personally to our room no.5. We had an evening meal there. My husband had a delicious burger. I had a Sunday roast, but I was practically the last order, it was a bit dry. The room was spacious, including the bathroom. The bathroom wasn’t spotlessly clean. It was dusty in places and grouting needs whitening in places. It looked tired, particularly the floor. There was only 1 member of staff serving breakfast and sorting out guests who were checking out. She looked a bit flustered and apologised for keeping us waiting a little bit.
The Hanmer Arms was much bigger than I anticipated apparently having once been a farm. The accomodation was in chalet style rooms which were presumably once out-buildings. Our room had a good view over the gardens and was well presented. The only negative would be the noisy plumbing early in the morning. I wonder if the rooms would be cold in the winter, but for our visit it was very pleasant.
Two more very positive points were the friendliness of the staff and the excellent food. Overall I would recommend the Hanmer Arms and would certainly stay there again.
Booked in to stay as this place was close to friends in Shropshire. Staff were welcoming if a little under staffed. Food was amazing value and more than plentiful. Great for lunch and huge choice at breakfast. Comfortable, spacious room, big car park, and easy enough to get to and use as a base.
Thank you Hanmer!
What a great place. The staff is friendly, helpful and the room was perfect. Large, comfortable space with nice bathroom, comfy bed, nice view, greatfood at the restaurant and made to order breakfast. We would definitely stay again. The tv was small and hed to be rebooted twice but we did not spendmuch time watching tv.
Food was good, staff were helpful and polite.
Location of Hanmer Arms ideal for going to a wedding in Cumbermere Abbey which is 11 miles away.
Road signage for Hanmer Arms very good.

Good value. The room had several good modern attributes. A mini fridge, coffee making facilities, a nice en-suite and we had complimentary water, biscuits and fresh milk - all nice touches.
The location of our room wasn’t great as guests would leave the bar and smoke right outside our room which meant we couldn’t open the windows. The smokers were loud making it difficult to sleep. Perhaps the smoking area should be further away from the bedrooms? The mattress in the room also needs replacing as you could feel the springs and it dipped in the middle.
The front door lock wasn’t great either. The handle kept on falling off - so some checks and maintenance on these would be good.
The service and choices at breakfast was excellent. It was all cooked fresh.
We would recommend the place. Unlikely to get many places as good as this for the price. A few small improvements would make it even better.
The Hanmer Arms Hotel is a great place to stay if you are travelling with pets, the chalet type accommodation is ideal as you are on the ground floor with a nice garden area outside to walk dogs.
The staff were all very nice and friendly, also the food was superb with a good selection on the menu.
All in all a very pleasant place to stay we will definitely be back on our next trip to the UK.
I din't like that breakfast couldn't be until 8am so got a packed one which was very poor yoghurt, crisps, apple and cold bacon sandwich. Also no hot water from the shower despite running for ages.

Very convenient for nearby family reunion. Delightful setting near church in quiet village. Very popular venue for locals on Saturday night. Good Wifi. Accommodation in "chalet" style building overlooking well-maintained garden. Bedroom spacious with "no frills" décor. Would benefit from a few pictures, a comfortable chair and better bed reading lights. Noisy plumbing ! However, a bonus in that there was a small fridge with complementary mineral water and a jug of fresh milk provided for coffee and wide range of teas. Bed firm but comfortable and with clean linen. Lots of good quality towels. Bathroom modern with complementary toiletries. No bath. Small shower and water/temperature settings slightly too "independent". Loo seat, shower door, broken glass light globe above basin and cold water pressure on basin tap need attention in Room 3. Breakfast buffet unexciting but good choice on menu. Eggs Benedict had excellent locally sourced ham. Great breakfast coffee. Friendly and competent staff. Ample parking. Good value for money and would consider return visit.
Check in was a smooth process. Made welcome from the first interaction with staff. Room well equipped

I enjoyed my stay at the Hanmer Arms. The best things about it were the friendly staff and the tea, coffee and biscuit selection in the room. It was better quality than some 5 star hotels I have been too. The breakfast selection was also very impressive and quite tasty (although service could have been a bit quicker).
The room could probably use a bit of an upgrade and looked a bit tired in places, I found the lighting a bit poor and all the plug sockets were in the wrong place (there were none close to the beds and they all appeared to be at the opposite end of the room). The door to the room faced the outside and could do with sound proofing as I heard some noisy people talking loudly outside in the early hours of the morning.
All in all though a pleasant stay.
Only quibble was that the bed was a bit soft for me but that is one for personal preference. Otherwise, nice food and excellent service with functional and clean rooms too. As the trip was for business, desk space would have helped but I would definitely return
