We got a free upgrade to an apartment, the bed wasn't as comfortable as our previous stay. The entrance way smelled of wet dog and dog urine. The room was nice and had little complimentary items which was nice. Last time we stayed we had an amazing breakfast. This time it was disappointing, the eggs were watery and undercooked, the orange juice tasted funky, possibly due to being watered down by ice cubes. We were really looking forward to that breakfast as it was amazing last time. The lady serving breakfast in morning seemed a little down compared to the previous time we stayed also. We will probably stay again as the location is okay for us and we like the place. Just a bad experience on this occasion.

Lovely old world character pub, cheap beer, lively sports / music, good breakfast, friendly staff, ideal for short stay in local area. Room basic but clean & decent enough for my needs as a 1 night stay, comfortable bed, good water power in shower which was lovely to cool down and clean up in after a day in the hot weather. Of note in deciding to book a stay: pub was lively so could be a bit too noisy for some later at night, no aircon in accommodation (but a fan to waft the hot air around is provided !) and the road noise in early hours could be an issue if you are a light sleeper (obviously outside the control of the premises however, worth accounting for if one of your priorities is a good nights sleep). Overall, decent value for money and even if I book to stay there next time I'd still visit again for the ambience of the place.

Fantastic Stay

What a great character place to stay for a couple of nights. Beautifully refurbished rooms and quiet even though close to a road. The inclusive breakfast was excellent with cereal, bread/toast, a selection of jams and a choice of hot food brought to you fresh and of course unlimited tea/coffee. All for a similar price to Premier Inn (no competition)

This is an unusual property, downstairs is like being inside a ship! Guests bedrooms are upstairs via narrow stairs (no lift). My room was tastefully decorated and the bed was very comfortable. I really like the thought that had gone into details such as special tea bags, a bag of things you might need, water bottle next to bed. The en suite was fine although there was a slight fluctuation to water in the shower. Parking no issue. The cooked to order Breakfast was nicely presented and hot. Limited choices in the breakfast 'help yourself ' buffet and not sure about the bread. The croissants were not fresh ones sadly. The main negative for me was the sound of traffic from the busy road less than 3 metres from front of the building. The traffic continued past 10pm both nights i stayed here and started up again by 6am. The windows were lovely sash style but not double glazed which would have helped.
