My room had a wonderful view of the mountains and overlooked what seemed to be a main street (Dorfstrasse). The room was very clean, and the hotel staff were incredibly polite and helpful.

We've stayed here twice, and it's been a wonderful experience each time. The staff are very helpful, the location is perfect, the restaurant is excellent, the view is magnificent...what more can I say? HSW has a quintessential Swiss alpine hotel look and feel. 10/10 would recommend.

Great cottage and location at the end of the Main Street in Wengen. Incredible views from the mountain facing terrace and the best included breakfast I’ve had at any location. Used as my base camp to explore the Swiss Alps over 4 days, which was perfect going up the Jungfrau side, thru Lauterbrunnen and the east side mountains, or into Interlaken/Bern if the weather restricted visibility.

Clean rooms and property. Very friendly staff. Great location and breakfast each morning. We had the family room and it was perfect with a separate room that had bunk beds. Just a note: there isn't a fridge if you plan to buy snacks and there isn't ac, which was fine in May but could be hot in the summer. Great hotel! We loved our stay!

Hotel Schonegg in Wengen, Switzerland was amazing! First off, it rests in a beautiful small town on the edge of the Alps overlooking the Lauterbrunnen valley. Second, the hotel is quiet, beautifully decorated and everything you’d want for a stay in Switzerland. We enjoyed a suite with large tub, shower and the most amazing views of the Alps. The food in Restaurant 1903 is fantastic! Great selection of menu items and exceptional flavors for any appetite. Our stay at Hotel Schonegg was a highlight to our Switzerland adventure and a fantastic springboard to exploring the Alps. This review is submitted by a couple from Iowa in the U.S.

Hotel Schönegg is the definition of lipstick on a pig. It charges luxury prices, but the experience never came close to feeling luxurious. The breakfast buffet was genuinely excellent and was easily the best part of the stay. Unfortunately, that’s where the compliments end. The staff were about as warm and comforting as a splinter under a toenail. Every interaction felt like we were inconveniencing them simply by being guests. Hospitality should make you feel welcome; here, it felt like they couldn’t wait for us to leave. As for Wengen itself, it’s undeniably beautiful. The mountain scenery is spectacular. But beneath the postcard views is an overcrowded, overpriced destination packed with tourists. After experiencing it firsthand, I don’t understand the hype. Between the inflated prices and the lackluster service, it’s simply not a place I’d spend my money on again. The scenery earns five stars. The overall experience does not. I won’t be returning.
