Very good location, (near CBD, transportation hubs, bookshops, theatres, museums, entertainment, gastronomy, markets), fair pricing, clean, tidy and has a friendly staff. I only had an issue that the room was inferior to booking and due to other bookings I had no choice other than stay there for 1 of 2 nights.

The location was very convenient! It was quite noisy at night even with windows are closed but expected for its location. The room was clean with all expected amenities listed. Easy to walk around to near by restaurants and bars. There is paid parking near the front of the building during the day which is free overnights but no parking on the premises. We did enjoy our stay here overall!

First time in a hostel and it was a great experience. They allowed us to check in early since our flight was a morning one. Convenient to venue we went to and all the local eatery spots. I would’ve given it a 5 stars if they had ac in the room. For a small fee of $4 you can also store your luggage in a room till your flight. Definitely would recommend people stay there.

Up front, I want to be clear that this is a hostel. We were pleased with a very clean room with comfortable bed. We hit a snag with check in that the late staff dealt with that night. Their response, and the follow up with us the following, goes a long way to the positivity of our stay.

We recently stayed at Haka House for two nights to attend the World of Wearable Art Show in Wellington. We were able to catch the Airport Express Bus to the Courteney Place stop, then walk to Haka House. There are a lot of restaurants nearby and it is only a couple of blocks away from the waterfront, which is a perfect way to explore the city. It is also almost directly across the road from a large New World Supermarket for supplies.

Location is perfect. Room was nice, bathroom could do with some touch ups though and beware the road noise if you have a light sleep (did not bother us much). What was not very impressive was the staff. Welcoming and friendly wasn't a tag I would give here - especially when we checked out - lots of room to improve. A hostel should be a welcoming and helpful experience especially if you try to find your way around in an unknown place - but maybe that has been lost in the 90s :). Handing the keys to guests to help themself to the stored luggage room raised some concerns. Overall, if you are self-sufficient and after a nice enough room with short walking distances it's a GO.
