The staff at reception were very good, so was the breakfast and the location of the hotel. The only thing pulling it down was that the room wasn't as clean as I would hope. The kettle looked like someone in the past had cooked noodles in it and the shower could do with a decent scrub.

Bed was very comfortable. Was also lovely and quiet especially at night. Some basics lacking in room. No tissues, hair dryer, body wash run out in shower, no rubbish bin in kitchens area. No ability to wash dishes. Personally wasn’t impressed with wall art but this is of course subjective. For one night was comfortable and adequate. Extra cost for parking per night and small cars only.

1st star is for location, it’s right in the city. My room was on the 5th floor so traffic noise was minimal. 2nd star for the reception staff who were friendly and professional. Sadly the room though was an absolute shocker. The carpet was filthy, with huge rips and there was a chair in the room that was disgusting. To be fair, I wasn’t expecting perfection, this hotel has a very average star rating but it was my only reasonably priced option (NZ $206 for 1 night) for a last minute booking. I was happy to over look a dated decor and a bit of wear and tear but this room was next level. Thankfully the bed linen all looked clean and the bathroom was grotty but ok.

This is an old property and reflects its age. The walls are thin and noise travels. The shower stall floor is steeply sloped to the drain insert which floats up with the water level. It was hard to stand up and I kept slipping and stubbing my toe on the drain insert. The staff however, were wonderfully professional and helpful.
