A clean room & good breakfast!

Good old fashioned service. A clean room which was nice and warm. Breakfast at the Columbia Hotel was plentiful. Reception staff were friendly. Will stay here again.

Nice hotel convenient for business location I was visiting. I was able to park in the car park behind the hotel. There would have been parking on the road if the car park was full. Staff very friendly and obliging. Evening meal excellent quality and value for money. Corridor to ground floor single room 20 I was allocated was a bit narrow but well lit. There were emergency exits along this route and comprehensive safety signage throughout hotel. I wasn't disturbed by the occupants of the neighbouring rooms so slept well. Some road traffic headlights did shine in the bathroom window but with the door shut this didn't disturb the bedroom. The free WIFI worked well - the key was available at reception.

Little Gem

Don’t be fooled by the exterior appearance as this was a little gem that we were very lucky to find. Excellent service, superb room, great food and everything fitted to suit our timing needs. Definitely stay again if we’re working in the area.

Top hotel voor voordelig prijs. Incl ontbijt. Waar ook nog Engels ontbijt kan ervaren. Gast vrouw erg vriendelijk. Parkeerplaats achterin. Wij zijn weekend Santa Pod race way. Dat net 12 minuten vandaan is. Volgend jaar weer!

Good parking spaces. Reception looked okay and the breakfast area was tidy. Rest of the place was run down. Room was old decor paper peeling from the wall and bathroom was just old and dirty, won't be back.

Pleasant Hotel, Clean and Friendly

Large room which was spotless. Everything worked as it should. Bed and mattress very good. Shower and toiletries all present and correct. A well cared for Hotel with a very pleasant lady who greeted me. I never eat breakfast so I cannot comment on the food. Overall a pleasant stay with no concerns.

OK but a long way from excellent. Rooms were clean but no bedside lamps and poor ed coverings were a letdown. The shower pressure was very poor and it's fittings were oose. Breakfast was very good for a slf service buffet, however the toast was somewhat soggy. In general the hotel was a little bit delapidated and rather noisy. I will not be staying there again.

Payment hiccup but stay more than acceptable...

There could have been a hiccup before arriving, as the hotel tried to take payment early. After a couple of phone calls without answer and a message through the Internet, it was agreed that credit card payment would be taken in person on arrival, as per the booking through Hotels.com. Our stay at the hotel was more than acceptable, otherwise. The room was comfortable and the cooked breakfast met our expectations. We thought the stay good value for money and would certainly consider using the hotel again, when next in the area.

Stayed here before but on this visit the room was more updated with decor and facilities We stayed in room 1 which had a double and single bed configuration There’s a bar on site and a few take aways down the road along with a couple of convenience stores nearby Breakfast was great we had the full English but there was variation Car parking is round the back and there’s also off road parking if needed Hey it’s not one of the same chain hotels you can book on the outskirts of the town but the staff are very friendly and nothing was too much hassle for them to sort out If you are looking for a budget hotel with a good location and facilities try the Columbia

We stayed in the 3 single bed room as a family for one night due to a nearby family party. First impression of hotel was not good, but although saying that, the staff were very friendly, the hotel was clean, the room dated but clean and beds very comfortable. Adequate parking. The breakfast was extremely good and staff very accommodating and friendly. I would regard this hotel as a bed and breakfast style, with need of updating. Reasonably priced.

Decent hotel with proper old school charm

Went off to a great start as being upgraded at no extra cost from the pre-booked and pre-paid single room (apparently on the 3rd floor) to a better and larger twin room on the 1st floor without even being asked for when the lady at reception saw that I'm using a walking stick - very nice and much appreciated. Something which certainly was very much appreciated and made life easier for me. Especially as the hotel has no lift. I had a good nights sleep, nice warm shower in the morning and the great breakfast buffet (hot full English) at no extra cost set me off very well for the next day. Free parking at the back of the hotel an extra bonus. It's a nice old hotel, well maintained, nicely decorated. Proper old school in the best possible way. I'd be happy to return and recommend it.
