We were attending a wedding at Virginia Lodge so the hotel was close by. The staff were extremely friendly, the bed comfortable and the place very tidy. Great views over the lake. Excellent breakfast but would have liked fruit salad to be available as it was in other places guests stayed.

Quaint, clean but no soundproofing

Beautiful inside and out. The lakeside location was perfect and the inside of the hotel was quaint with giant fresh flower bouquets in common areas. The place was very clean. The only issue was the adjoining room; there is NO soundproofing. So if you are a light sleeper or noise sensitive and your neighbours even speak more than a whisper or watch tv or play any music you'll have a truly miserable time

The friendliness’s of all the staff was above and beyond anything experienced in other hotels and countries. I arrived a visitor and left feeling like a local friend. The quality of the food and drink was second to none and the accommodation was spotless. We can’t wait to return in summer.

Every member of staff was extremely friendly especially the lady on reception for both check in and check out...... Place needs a thorough cleaning as it was really dirty with cobwebs everywhere, walls dirty and marked radiators thick with dust ....... The bathroom in the "superior room" wasn't very clean toilet seat was dirty loose and sticky and hairs on the floor ...... Carpets dirty, stained and falling apart...... Food was overpriced for the small portions you got and €6-90 for a pint of smithwicks an Irish beer is just pure robbery.......And then to top it off we realised the entire bottom floor was an IPAS CENTRE...... Disgraceful to still be letting out rooms to unsuspecting guests if you are an IPAS CENTRE

A good hotel with a few flaws.

Nice hotel with a view over a lake for some rooms including ours. A/C available for hot nights. Getting into the bath to take a shower might cause problems for those with limited mobility. Had a good meal in the evening, but breakfast was a bit slow and disorganised, why have mushrooms and beans in separate pots rather than put on the plate after being asked if we wanted them.

Stayed for work which was local to the property. Clearly back in the day this had some history. The view out over the lake is pretty. Inside it’s tired when I spoke to locals they said “oh, at least the view is nice”. It’s 3 star for a reason. I didn’t complain about anything however my room was a little strange with a random piece of furniture more fitting to a hallway in an old mansion house. One of the pillows in the bed smelt and I found a few arachnid 🕷️ inhabitants that weren’t invited. 😅
There’s that random bit of furniture where I think there might once been a bed.
A bit bodged together but it did the job.
Lovely view though.
