This was a total surprise. Seemed corporate but my god, the food was amazing. Clean, on the sea. Amazing breakfast buffet and dinners. Complete gem with great amenities. Do not be fooled by the corporate look. Terrace with sea views and walking is easy.

Really nice hotel on the sea. Our room was fantastic, large terrace, large room and a comfortable bed. We ate in the restaurant both nights and were very impressed with the quality of the food and service. Thanks Helena!

The good points about the hotel were the breakfast, the staff, who were helpful and the rooms which were for the most part well maintained. We had several very positive interactions with the front desk and on the whole they met our needs. The location is pretty good and there is access to a sandy beach at low tide. Do bear in mind that the hotel is close to the port, so noise can be an issue if you room on the mountain side of the property. The wireless was extremely weak. As this was (partly) a business trip this was a big issue for us. I think this highlights a systemic issue with the hotel. The carpets on the stairs needs replacement, along with the WiFi. Essentially, the hotel needs a bit of a facelift, a refresh if it wants to retain its 4 star status.

Rooms are great, rest not so good

Hotel rooms are nice with a beautifull view of the ocean. Around the hotel is nothing, no Restaurant no bar. Therefore i had to eat at the hotel. Food was bad. Also breakfast not so nice. Big problem at Restaurant that the server speaks no english. Could not answer any question. Not good for a 4 star hotel

The property is on the water, but I became a four course meal while I slept! The hotel room and hallways were full of mosquitos!! The room was decent, however, the patio is not very private if you walk up to the railing, you can see your neighbors and into their rooms. They need to update carpeting on stairs, it has worn thru areas and shabby looking. Housekeeping could be better. I had an opened bottle of lotion left behind, and the minibar had an opened bottle of half drunk water sitting among the other items.

We loved this hotel so much, we booked another night! The breakfast was delicious! It was so nice that a full sized gym and spa were located within the building. It was well maintained. The views from the balcony was what kept us there another night.

Stay in a Sea View room or not stay at all

The hotel has a fantastic view if you stay in a room with sea view, otherwise not worth it. The hotel already has a few years and needs a " refresh" , especially on the floor of the wc's and painting in the halls . The SPA is in a gym that is right next to the hotel and there is a direct passage to it, but you lose the intimacy and at ease because we have to cross the gym in the hotel rob when there are people who are not from the hotel and are gym users. Good but we will not repeat .

Das größte Plus des Flor de Sal sind die Zimmer mit Meerblick - einen besseren Balkonblick gibt es in Viana do Castelo nicht. Das Zimmer war sehr geräumig, der Balkon ebenfalls, die Betten bequem. Für ein „Perfekt“ reicht es leider aus folgenden Gründen trotzdem nicht: - der Zahn der Zeit nagt am Hotel. Der Teppich auf den Treppen ist deutlich abgewetzt, auch die Balkonbohlen zeigten sich abgenutzt und mit teilweise breiteren Rillen, in unserem Bad fehlten ein paar der kleinen Kacheln. - das Frühstücksbuffet war schmackhaft und bezüglich Brot, Brötchen und Obst recht abwechslungsreich. Jeden Tag gleich waren jedoch Käse und Wurst, auch etwas mehr Garnierung hätte dem Buffet sicher gut getan. Abgepackte Butter ist sicherlich auch etwas outdated - warum nicht frische Butter in Scheiben angeboten wird, obwohl dies wirtschaftlicher und optisch ansprechender wäre, ist mir ein Rätsel. - leider funktionieren die Absprachen des Personals nicht zuverlässig. Änderungen beim Abendessen waren auf Rückfrage nicht möglich. Da wir früh abreisen mussten und das Frühstück nicht in Anspruch nehmen konnten, hatten wir nach einem Lunchpaket gefragt. Dies wurde bejaht und sogar notiert, am Abreisetag wusste der Mitarbeiter an der Rezeption jedoch nichts und machte sich auch auf Nachfrage nicht die Mühe, nachzusehen. Schade.
