We recently stayed at this property for a week’s vacation and it was an incredibly lovely boutique hotel. The entire hotel and rooms were very clean, the staff was polite and helpful in every way, and the amenities were superb (breakfast included and rooftop pool and seating area a huge plus!). The hotel is a short walk to all attractions and eateries and right around the corner from a beautiful sea view. We truly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

Excellent hotel in a great location. A few minutes walk into the centre of Valletta with lots of bars and restaurants really close. The hotel was spotless, room was lovely, great pool and breakfast. Staff were fantastic, all very helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend.

Superb hotel! So convenient for the centre of Valletta but very quiet to get to sleep easily. Probably the cleanest hotel we’ve been to. Beautiful rooftop pool to relax by, with a lovely bar to quench any thirst. Will definitely return to this most friendly home from home. Thank you!

A fantastic boutique hotel, with the most incredibly helpful staff. The rooms were fantastic and they were cleaned every day, which we didnt expect. The breakfast included was again more than we expected and there was a great choice as well. The pool area at the top the hotel was again a nice area to relax and was spotless and there was a small bar to enjoy drinks and snacks. Once again I couldn't recommend this hotel enough. The staff are a credit to their company and a special thanks to Sandtosh for looking after me and wife at Breakfast time.

We had a lovely stay and had the room with the hot tub. This was great as it was too cold for a swim. Room is large and comfy bed slight smell from drain in bathroom so left the extractor fan on. Breakfast was great with large selection and staff very attentive. Great location in Valletta as quiet but easy to get to centre.

Me and my girlfriend visited Malta for the first time over half-term and stayed at the San Karlu for three nights. The hotel was lovely, with nice rooms and a delicious breakfast. The pool was also lovely to visit, with the rooftop bar a bonus! The only feedback we'd give is that the pool could do with being heated, especially for when the sun goes down, and also the railings around the pool could do with glass or perspex layer to block out the wind - it can get a little chilly on the roof! Otherwise a lovely stay and we'll be back again!

The property was spotless. Breakfast was good. The location was within walking distance too many attractions and to the ferry. The only drawback about Valletta was the walking up and downstairs. But that had nothing to do with the property. I would stay there again. There were lots of great restaurants and nightlife very close to the hotel. But the hotel was extremely quiet.

The staff comes to knock on your room to ask if it needs cleaning even if you put the do not disturb message on your door. They woke us up twice for the same reason. The breakfast is cheap and the rooms are very small, even the corridors to move around. Overall, I didn't really enjoy my stay at the hotel.

We checked in and were given a room early but it was in an inner courtyard and it was a bit claustrophobic. So, we asked for another room and went out for lunch. We came back and the hotel gave us the best room in the hotel with a large outside patio with the only jacuzzi tub in the hotel. After a long day of walking around Valletta it was nice to soak our tired bodies in the hot tub. We spent an enjoyable 3 nights at the hotel!

A week in La Valletta

Outstanding staff!! All very attentive to our needs would it be for the breakfast, providing directions or advice. Breakfast was very good and they even offered a bag when we departed early at check out. Superb location; close to many restaurants and amenities and historical places. Be aware that the AC or heat is centrally controlled and if you book a room with a garden view, there is limited air circulation so the room might be a bit humid. Aside from that, immaculate room and staff. We recommend!

Amazing stay at san Karlu with dedicated staff very careful for guests and easily reachable by WhatsApp during the stay. They prepare the room for my father's birthday and were helpful for any request. Improvement shall be done to maintain a good level of cleaning for long stays, not changing systematically the plates at breakfast would lower the washing volume. Furthermore staff needs to be more informed about the touristic activities to better guide the clients. Pretty well located the hotel offers all commodities and is quiet !

It’s a new hotel (no signs on the building yet) which is modern and very clean. Lovely bathroom. The hotel is very quiet but located approx 5 mins walk from the centre of town and easily walkable to all places of interest. Breakfast is good but a little chaotic as the food area (self service) is about the size of a small galley kitchen and can’t accommodate more than three people. The only real downside - probably the hardest and most uncomfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. Otherwise, it’s ideal for a short break.

Not recommended. We booked classic double room which was advertised with courtyyardview but in fact the room has no window. So there was no daylight during all day. We asked at the reception and there is only one classic room in the entire hotel that has a normal window (and when you book any classic rooms, that’s the pic they show on the website - which is basically not true). Also, the offer said that it’s sound proof, but you can hear noise from the rooms around which disturbed sleeping- f.e. you can hear your neighbour flushing the water in the toilet in the middle of the night (in 4 star hotel ;)) What’s more the room had a very low celling and was hot inside, so overall it looked like a cellar. There is no mobile connection inside the room, but luckily wifi works. A bit poor breakfast with even no vegetables. The location of the hotel is good but not perfect, it is situated in the corner minutes away from main streets of Valetta. Hotel is really brand new and has a nice terrace at the roof, but definitely for this price is better to find another one unless somebody does not mind relaxing in a cellar without sunlight all day.
