My stay at the Bank House Hotel.

The Bank House Hotel was a very comfortable, nice big bed, good breakfast cooked to order and friendly, professional staff. Loved this stay! Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Uttoxeter.

Excellent location and a beautiful historic building, just a little black mould in the shower in the bathroom that was a little off putting but otherwise fantastic.

Nice little hotel.

The team were friendly and welcoming. The room was a bit tired and dated but was expected due to the price we paid and the age of the building. The hotel has lots of character and a cosy feeling. There's parking at the back and close to shops and restaurants. Breakfast was a little pricey but was very good. We would stay again as overall, it's good value for money.

Central Location

The hotel is in a great central location. Easy to find. The rooms are very dated and rather quirky. Our room had half an inner glazed window missing and a bathroom door that had a mind of its own to lock. The bed was comfortable and the sheets/towels seemed good quality.

Comfortable and clean.

As it states the hotel is 150 years old. I would honestly say it’s comfortable, clean and a bed for the night. It does have a bar but we did not go to but it’s an added advantage for some.

The location is excellent The receptionist lady was extremely helpful. The standard of the room was very average, but the bathroom was poor the excessive mould in the shower and the loose tap in the washbasin need sorting out! The car park is scarcely adequate for the guests, who I guess were at the about the number they could accommodate.Unlikely to stay there again.

Cheap and … scabby very old fashioned I know it’s an old building but doesn’t mean that everything inside has to be decade's old Was like going back to the 60’s but not in a nice way Everything in the room was old and tired (Even us by the morning) Didn’t get much sleep in the old creeky bed

Know it’s Grade II listed but in need of an update. Carpets on stairs and hallways are dirty, threadbare and smells of damp. Room 6 had the windows painted shut resulting in the room feeling like a sweat-box

Lovely staff in a tired hotel

The hotel is just very tired now. It would have got lower ratings but for the staff and in particular the lady who greeted us for check-in and breakfast. She was so lvely that she increased the overall stay satisfaction. We had a 4-poster bed which was VERY creaky with a poor mattress. It made for a bad night's sleep. The hotel needs some love and affection which may not nbe available during these difficult financial times.

Double booking-stayed elsewhere

Having booked this hotel weeks in advance so we could attend a friend's 60th birthday party, we received a phone call the afternoon before our stay to tell us they had overbooked. The lady was very apologetic and polite and told us she struggled to find us an alternative hotel in Uttoxeter. In the end we were offered a hotel in Sudbury around 15-20 minutes drive away. The cost of a taxi to and from the party was paid by the hotel as was breakfast. We had little option but to accept this alternative arrangement.

Bank house hotel

The lady on reception was very warm, welcoming and extremely friendly. The onsite parking was easily accessible and perfect with plenty of spaces. Room came with a nice amount of tea and coffee supplies and towels. Backing up other reviews, the hotel is old and very outdated. Our room had cobwebs in it and half of one of the windows was missing for some reason. There was also an annoying buzzing sound from outside of the window from either a generator or fan or something which kept me up during the middle of the night for a few hours. We paid £50 so you get what you pay for. Nothing extravagant but serves its purpose.

Don't bother.

Thread bare carpets, communal stairs filthy. 2 Pubic hairs found in the bed. No mattress or pillow protectors. Hairs and bum fluff on the back of the toilet seat. Black around the seal I'm the shower. Generally very dusty and run down. Very cold at night. When asked for £12.50 is the breakfast was good? I was met with... "well... Its a breakfast!" Glad I gave it a miss... Dread to think what the cleanliness of the kitchen would be. £68 for that room was not good at all. Only positive was there was tea and coffee making facilities with custard creams.

Never again

Access to the rooms is via a series of staircases which makes it unsuitable for the elderly or those with a disability. The carpet in the room was stained. The decor in the bathroom displays poor finishing. An important element of my choice was the availability of free wifi, which this hotel offered as part of the package. When, late of the evening, I arrived in the room, the promised page was not available and a page with a similar name did not respond to the password. Nor did reception respond to a telephone call. Signage (or its absence) means you can easily get lost. That, too, (you can get lost) is how I felt I was treated when I contacted management about the wifi inadequacy.

Not somewhere I'd ever stay again personally. Rooms very small, bed seemed small and very creaky & uncomfortable, hard to get a comfortable temperature in the room and church bells ringing every 15 minutes disturbed me non stop. Was tricky lugging my suitcase up a flight of stairs too. (Only had a case as this was night 5 of 5 away). Seemed clean enough though & cheap option for Alton Towers.

The property is old but that’s not excuse for the dust & cobwebs everywhere, the carpet on the stairs is threadbare & a trip hazard. There was dried baked beans in the table leg when we had breakfast & cereal dried on the milk jug. The second day the beans had gone but the same dirty milk jug as the day before! & a hair in the tablecloth. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone

Dead moth in dust in dining room window next to our table

One Night Stay

One night stay whilst visiting the races. Very convenient for centre of town and racecourse. Free parking at rear of hotel which was good. Skipped breakfast as it ended at 9.30 am. So popped over Wetherspoons instead only 2 minutes walk.
