They let us in a little bit early, which was really nice. Staff was awesome. The only complaint I have is that no matter how far I turn the air down, it never did get very cold. I had it all the way down and it was still hot in the room.

We received a text message from the Hotel Houze during our stay, asking us to let them know if we need anything. Our coffee maker was broken, and we requested a new one THREE times and none of the messages were responded to. We also asked at the front desk twice about this issue and were just met with blank stares. The air conditioner in one of the bedrooms was nonfunctional. We requested service and did not get a response. It looked like someone had been in the apartment while we were out but never got a follow up. The apartment was somewhat clean, but the bathroom was disgusting. We requested four fresh towels. We received three fresh towels and instructions that we were to wash them ourselves. I believe we booked this as a hotel and not an Airbnb. During our checkout, we requested our bags to be stored as our flight wasn't scheduled until later in the day. Although the amenities clearly state "bag storage", we were told it was not complimentary ($15 per bag). The manager did forgo the fee because we had so many issues so I guess that was her way of "making it right".

Excellent stay at the Frederick Stearns hotel in Detroit. Beautiful renovation with free parking. Large suite style room and bathroom. Very close to Riverfront and the downtown.
