Great stay

Fantastic location on the beach. Listen to the waves crashing. Very friendly staff and manager was very willing to help with my late check in and with me leaving my phone charger behind. Definitely recommend.

You have to walk down the street for dinner, drinks or shopping. The rooms are lovely, but hall lights illuminate rooms at night. Breakfast is great!

Great house with lovely view

The room was great and felt luxurios. A bit strange that it didn't have a door to the bathroom. A little balcony with ocean view. Comfortable beds. We were there for one night and left at 5.30 for a flight, and they made us breakfast packs without needing to ask them. The location feels safe. The restaurants are an 8 minute walk along the beachside by some luxurios villas. Beach is 30 metres away from the house.

Beautiful view of the Indian Ocean!

This is a wonderful bed and breakfast that I would recommend to anyone staying in the Durban area. Only 10-15 minutes from King Shaka airport. You are right on the Indian Ocean, and the rooms are lovely and clean. One of the best area seafood restaurants is within walking distance. The main areas of the B&B are welcoming and fun and the breakfast you are served in the morning is outstanding! The owners (who have been there for generations) are so cool to talk with and love to go surfing after all the breakfast work is done! Our plans only allowed us to stay one night - we wished we could've stayed longer.

Entspannter Tagesbeginn mit Meeresrauschen

Das Fairlight Beach House ist sehr gut gelegen in der Nähe vom Flughafen Durban. Die Lage ist ein super Ausgangspunkt für Touren nach Lesotho, Besuche in Durban oder den nahegelegten Strand als auch Richtung Santa Lucia. Das Zimmer war sauber, sehr groß mit Balkon und seitlichen Blick auf das Meer; man konnte die Wellen und das Meer vom Bett aus sehen und das Rauschen hören - das war wundervoll. Einen Tag hatten wir eine frühe Tour und die Gastleute waren so nett uns ein Care-Paket zur Mitnahme herzurichten. Das war super. Am nächsten Morgen hatten wir reguläres Frühstück im Beachhouse mit Blick auf das Meer vom Frühstücksraum. Es gab frisches Obst, frisch-gepresste Säfte, Müsli mit Jogurth, Eggs & Bacon als auch frisch gebackene Muffins. Alles sehr lecker. Wir würden auf jeden Fall wieder kommen nach Umdloti und in das Fairlight Beach House.

Brilliant place to stay - staff were very welcoming. Received very helpful advice and they went out of their way to make our stay extra special. Great breakfast and well located for airport. Lovely views from apartment onto beach. Would use again if in area. Strongly recommended.

Glad we only booked one night..

We booked this venue as a result of the great reviews this property had received from other travellers. Unfortunately, our experience turned out to be quite different. We arrived, off a delayed flight, to a lukewarm welcome - We were not offered help with our luggage. The room was adequate but very different to that shown in the pictures on the website. The paint on the furniture was peeling. The shower looked like it hadn't been scrubbed in a while and the grout had turned black with mould, so much so that I felt a little nervous taking my shoes off. There was only one thin cotton blanket and a throw on the bed - so hardly adequate for winter. I was cold. The bed was also not comfortable and the mattress was very hard. It was advertised as a king but was in fact 2 singles, pushed together with a quilted covering - not the most comfortable. The deck outside our room was peeling and looked in desperate need of maintenance. The public areas of the hotel, on the other hand were nicely decorated and clean. There was a nice selection of interesting books to browse through. Breakfast was ample and reasonably tasty. This was a perfect property for its location and views but it seems to have become a little jaded and could do with some TLC.

Unbeatable view, Peaceful location, Good breakfast

Enjoyed a wonderful one night stay here in June, 2016. Can't beat the oceanfront location, wonderful deck outside the clean and comfortable rooms. Bathroom was small, but that didn't negate all the positives about this place. The included breakfast as tasty and plentiful, prepared to order. Wish we could have stayed another night!! Owners were friendly.
