The food was absolutely top notch,dinner was amazing. Sadly the room,bathroom could most definitely need a complete renovation. The pool,has the lining coming loose,and the jacuzzi had too many chemicals in,and the handrail looks as if it has not been cleaned for ages. Staff were all very pleasant and extremely efficient.

This is real gem, hidden away in the Devon countryside, at the end of long private driveway - with rather too many deep potholes, a danger to your car's tyres and suspension. Once you're there you get get a warm welcome - all of the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The rooms are quite spacious. and the beds are very comfortable. Dining is a speciality, and though the portions may seem small to some, they are beautifully prepared and presented, preceded by tempting amuse-bouches served while you wait. The whole ambience is a delight, with quiet music playing in the background. Breakfast was the opposite - much too loud music (why ?), and not the standard of cooking that we had experienced the nights before, though the staff were just as attentive in every way. Then there is the bonus of the superb pool, jacuzzi and gym - available to all guests from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm. It was a delight to have a prebreakfast session there, all on our own. At the moment, a new accommodation block is being built, to embrace the wonderful views (also the same views from the spa), so please expect some noise of building work - through it's well near completion (July 2026). A lovely place to stay - highly recommended.

Room and bed extremely well appointed

Lovely setting and extremely comfortable. The dinner was exciting and very efficiently served. The lounges were spacious allowing for quiet areas and privacy and all furnished with furniture appropriate to the building. All the staff were friendly and willing to help in any way. We greatly enjoyed our overnight stay and would certainly recommend the hotel without reservation.

I have been to this lovely hotel/restaurant before but never stayed the night. I went as a party of 6 celebrating a special birthday. My room was beautiful as was the wet room - it was geared up for a disabled guest (which I wasn't) but didn't make that obvious. All the food we had (afternoon tea/dinner/breakfast) were beautifully prepared, fresh and so tasty. The three course evening meal was an absolute triumph, every morsel was lovely. Compliments to the chef! There is a fabulous spa, and the views of the gardens and beyond, staggering. The staff are a credit - so polite, helpful and competent. I will definitely be back.

Perfect stay

Had a lovely stay. Would have been nice to have conditioner in the shower and not shampoo and conditioner mixed but that would be the only thing I could fault, otherwise perfect!

We had an amazing stay at the hotel. All staff in the hotel and spa were brilliant, friendly, and welcoming. Couldn’t fault our stay. The restaurant breakfast, lunch and dinner was delicious. Perfect relaxing and quiet mini get away. We will be returning again.

Lovely little break away, gorgeous location, beautiful spa. Amazing meal at the in-house dining. Dog friendly. Really helpful staff. A little hiccup with check-in and room but all sorted promptly. Would love to stay again.

Great food and spa

Very enjoyable 2 night stay. The restaurant was excellent with very good service. We had both the gourmet and a la carte menus. High quality spa with great views over the Devon countryside. Room was good and comfortable.

Very tranquil with a lovely view from the spa. Very nice dinner and friendly staff. The bedroom was let down by the quality of the bedding and uncomfortable pillows. They were not of the standard expected for a hotel charging these prices. The mattress, however, was very comfortable.
