I recently challenged myself to a one-week stay at 9hrs Capsule Hotel Suidobashi to see if capsule living works for a longer trip. It turned out to be a far better experience than I anticipated, offering fantastic value for budget-conscious travellers! The Highlights: ∙ Workspace & Views: The 6th floor features an open lounge with panoramic city skyline views and reliable, fast Wi-Fi—perfect for getting work done while staff cleans the capsules. ∙ Amenities & Vibe: Private showers are plentiful, so I never waited in line. The bottom floor hosts a trendy coffee shop with modern, relaxed vibes. ∙ Futuristic Style: The capsules look incredibly cool, giving off distinct 2001: A Space Odyssey vibes. ∙ Location: Transit to central Tokyo is effortless. As a runner, being near the 5km Imperial Palace loop was a massive bonus and a total must-do! The Drawbacks: ∙ Sound Insulation: My only real complaint is the lack of soundproofing in the capsule area. While snoring is inevitable in shared spaces, a bit more acoustic insulation would make the stay truly exceptional. Final Verdict: Spending a full week here proved that high-concept capsule living can be both comfortable and practical. If you want to explore Tokyo on a budget without sacrificing location or style, 9hrs Suidobashi is definitely worth considering!

The capsule hotel has pretty much everything you need. Shower, amenity kit, earplugs, and a safe cozy area to sleep in. The lounge is also a great bonus. Will be returning again.

First time i stayed in a japanese capsule hostel! Such a fun experience! Very clean place and efficiently operated. Many conveniences provided free like slippers, towels, lounge wear, and bathroom items. Men's and women's areas are separated. My favorite part is the 6th floor common area with excellent view!

Second time for stay and it is my go to hotel when I go visit Korakuen Hall. It is perfect distance from Korakuen Hall or Tokyo Dome, it's like 5min walk. Stores and restaurants are all around as well. There is no complaining for solo traveler like me. Just in and out, it's that simple!

I stayed at a women’s only 9h prior, and this co-ed one was definitely more lively and overall inviting. A train passes by right outside so you can hear it until it stops around midnight/restarts around 4am but I found it soothing. Nothing in the area other than Tokyo Dome though, and the Suidobashi station (closest station) started each of my days with an upwards stair climb. The lounge floor (6th) was very beautiful with an almost full 360 view, )you can even see part of the Tokyo Dome) cozy at night and respectful guests all around.

Great place for solo travers to stay. Good amenities and clean. While yes, you can hear everything that goes on around you, including alarms, snoring, and the train, they have free earplugs. The bedding is about the same hardness as a futon on a tatami. The only complaint is the stiffness of the pillow. Otherwise, the lockers are big enough for one backpack and one carryon. Be aware that you will not be able to access your pod or locker between 10AM-2PM due to cleaning. Overall, a great place to stay!

Very clean for the most part (there was an incident where someone vomited the night before all over a toilet and it wasn't cleaned up for over 24h) Staff are very nice. You are free to be completely independent (you don't really need to interact with anyone in order for things to get done - which is saying a lot considering some of the hotels in Japan) Extremely Quiet. Everyone is respectful of the rules of sound. The pods aren't anything to write home about but were still satisfactory. While most the people here are just there to study or do work things, every now and then you will bump into a foreigner who is absolutely down to socialize and go out for a night of drinking. I met one of the coolest people here while hanging out in the lounge area/bumping into them in the elevator. Overall it's pretty great. The only real major down side is the shut down period between 11:00-15:00. Makes recovering from hangovers a brutal nightmare lmao.

Comfortable and Affordable

For a capsule accommodation in Tokyo, this branch of 9h is very busy but it still able to maintain orderliness and cleanliness. I had a great 1 night stay with special thanks to Issam(?) who spoke very good English and enjoyed a friendly conversation during his night shift. The cabins can be full at times but no issue with maintaining peace and quiet in lockers and sleeping area. The loung area looks very nice but keep in mind it is not tinted so at night people outside can see you like fishes in an aquarium. Not really an issue. There is a coffee shop at the ground floor. I reduce 1 star from perfection just because they don't have a drinking water fountain or much amenities inside. Also one of the men's toilets was unusable out of 3 available but didn't see much issue of having to wait. I look forward to coming back someday. I recommend here if you're trying to stick to a budget and traveling solo or with a few friends. Just bring eye mask and ear plugs.

Suidobashi capsule right by Tokyo Dome

I have stayed at many capsules hotels so the experience is not new to me. This hotel was more modern than others and new. The capsule is spacious and has both a power plug spot and a USB port. It does not have a TV or an AC vent, it was still comfortable as the room has A/C. Bed was comfy, there are also bathrooms on the same floor which is nice. Men have lockers and showers on 4th floor, more toilets as well. The showers need repair, all but 1 were pouring water like a faucet out of the rainfall shower head, luckily there is a hand held attachment so no real issue. The one that worked is the only one that had a clog so it would back up if you used it. They provide body soap, shampoo and conditioner in the showers, hair dryers and tissue/paper towels and hand soap at the sinks. They do not offer moisturizer or q-tips etc like all other hotels. You do get a toothbrush and pajamas (they will change both daily). The rule to leave from 10-2 is real, no idea why it takes that long for all the floors, they are actively cleaning the entire time and you have to leave. They sell some drinks at the front desk and have a coffee shop in house but a Family Mart is across the street. The lounge on 6th floor has tables and outlets but no washroom or sinks, no microwave to heat up food either. The one thing they should change is adding hand soap to the bathrooms, washlets and sinks in all bathrooms but the is only soap on 4th floor so you gotta make that trip if you want clean hands.

The Capsule Idea is good, but the overall engineering is terrible. I Hated My Stay here's why: 1st- There's No Airflow, so its Hot. Looks like there is a vent and Plenty of area and availability to install a fan system but no. So it's Hot. 2nd- The pods are NOT Sound Proof about as sound proof as a Marble Shower. If the person 9 pods away so much as Yawns you here it! 3rd- They allow check in at Any time of time so there is always someone walking around making noise. Was people checking in at 12:30am! 4th- You have to live out of a tiny locker. There is No area to open you luggage, other than the small space between the lockers were there are 16 on each side, and more than 2 people at a time is crappled at best. 5th- Staff was rude. They close down the pods and lockers to clean for about 4 hours so make sure you have EVERYTHING You need for the day. Lady was rude when i went to locker because I needed my International Drivers License. 6th- They video and Audio record you while you are sleeping, kinda werid, but you CAN NOT OPT OUT. 7th- For around the same price you can find a hotel with a Real Bed, Self Controlled Heating and Air and a Great Bathtub or Public Bath area. 8th- The Mattresses are Thin, Like....Real Thin. My dogs beds are thicker than these and they have sleep sensors that you can feel. 9th- They kick you out of the pods, want to sleep in Tough, Don't feel well Tough. You paid for the Pod, but you can only use when they say.
