Upon arriving we were hesitant that we’d found the right address. The absolute beauty of the location had not been given its due justice from the online photos. The new owners have done so much to revitalize the rooms, overall property and gardens. The panoramic view was epic.
We really loved the location of the lodge. The sea view from the lodge was beautiful.
Drew and Christine were really welcoming and we were very happy with service.
The place was really neat and tidy.
Also, the place was really calm and quiet.

I would give this lodge 10 stars if I could. It was wonderful. The views were fabulous. Christine & Drew were wonderful hosts the gardens around their lodge were so beautiful. If we ever come back to NZ, we will stay at their lodge!!
It was gorgeous! Lovely architecture and gardens. The view is especially breathtaking. I’ve wanted to stay here for years and I was so wonderful . Thank you to the caring hosts also, so welcoming and hospitable!
Lovely grounds with great views over the firth. Room was small but worked just fine. Views and grounds were fabulous and hostess engaging during check-in
Lovely separate rooms with ensuite in a private house. Own entry onto terrace and the gardens Great views and very quiet. Not too far from Auckland airport which made it an ideal place for us to recover from a long flight

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
Our room had excellent views of the Bay, the garden was beautiful and quiet. Our room had no bug screen but a can of mosquito spray was provided. Regardless, we ended up with lots of mosquito bites, which really ruined our stay. If staying there, ask the owner for a room with bug screen.
Only stayed one night, wish it could have been longer.
Welcoming hospitality, comfortable clean room, everything we needed for a short stay, beautifully kept gardens and the most glorious view.
Would love to return.
I try to look for one word to describe Casa Te Puru Lodge, but I can’t choose, so here are our thoughts:
- Marvellous
- Very Clean
- Very friendly
- Stunning Flowers
- Lovely Birds
It was PERFECT!
The view was lovely as was the setting other than that there is little to recommend this place. Access would be very difficult for many as the drive was phenominally steep and would make walking out impossible for most. The room was small as was the bathroom tucked away at the back of the bedroom, adequate for a one night stop but not a lengthy stay. Check in was not welcoming (at 5pm which was hardly late) infact it was most off putting as we had to ring the front door bell and wait a while to be be greeted with "Oh I'd forgotton you were coming. You are the ones who booked on line'
We were.neither informed of a breakfast nor dinner option at La Casa for our two night stay and when we enquired where we could eat we were told eating options were a 10 km drive away into Thames with no recommendations. We did actually find breakfast the next morning at a wonderful cafe 2km away. Waikamu Beach Cafe. This was our first time in the Coramandel peninsula and Im sure we will return but not to La Casa Im afraid.
Beautiful grounds, worth a stroll. Challenging driveway. My check engine light came on so I am losing a day at the mechanic. It is very steep, your car will probably be fine, mine is very old. Twin room has one window which is at the entrance of another room so choose between privacy and natural light. Had issues with mosquitos, light switch near only one bed which doesn't have a nightstand. Overall beautiful property with a challenging room (twin), the other rooms seem better.
