Quirky hotel with friendly staff and an excellent breakfast. Great place to stay when visiting Te Anau, Milford Sound and Doubtful Sound. Short walk to Te Anau town centre and the lake.
Staff were super helpful and friendly. Facilities were clean and the kitchen had a lot of supplies which was an added bonus.

An A+ for breakfast. Variety, well presented.
A place with a difference. Rooms have a theme name that represent a previous era. So good.
Staff join in the fun of being in a unique place.
Wonderful place to stay. The unique style made of oldies goldies, the common room and its perfect homemade cookies, the fantastic staff, the gorgeous breakfast. One of the best places I ever stayed in, beats any four-star hotel hands down. Merci!

We had a wonderful stay here! The location is perfect for adventures in Te Anau and going on to Milford. Our room was comfortable and had a beautiful view, and the whole lodge has so much character. The host was friendly and welcoming, and really accommodating. And the breakfast was amazing!
We had a wonderful stay at Te Anau Lodge property. We had the whole Manaroa homestead to ourselves and Kim was so accommodating and provided wonderful groceries for us to use. She also gave us good advice for taking the scenic route through the Catlins.
We had a very good stay in a comfortable room and bed. We really liked the afternoon tea and drinks in the library upstairs as it brought guests together and made for a very pleasant evening. We were in the Bishops Retreat and thoroughly enjoyed the dressing up. A fun stay. Thank you
Very comfortable and private room, warm and welcoming communal lounge, nice homely touches like home baking and hot/cold drinks freely available. Host manager went above and beyond to ensure our stay was memorable.
This place is SO cool! Kim, the manager on duty when we were there, was incredibly friendly and accommodating. We stayed one night in the music room and one night in the train car. Our friend stayed in the bus and the wagon. The train car blew my mind! It was spacious, with a great shower/bath, and just felt so unique. The lodge itself is beautiful. Breakfast is good and the library is a great place to chill, have a beer or coffee, and read. If you pass through Te Anu, definitely stay here!

Spotless room with lots of character. Interesting building (a convent) lovingly restored, keeping a number of original touches. A wonderful breakfast is served in the morning; tea and cookies are available throughout the day in the library.
