We chose Taupo Thermal Hotel and Spa as our base for our North Island activities and to have a our own personal spa pool. It was awesome to go on our daily activities to then enjoy soaking in the natural heated mineral pool. The reception was terrific, her bubbly personality was great,talking about our travels so far and letting us know about local activities and a full run down on the facilities they had to offer .

Great location & clean, but the room is old & eclectic. The bed was very firm, not comfortable for us. The back patio was quaint but the round soaking tub was very old with broken sections on the tub itself fixed with duct tape. We added water to the tub that took quite awhile & then really only allowed us to soak our feet. We only stayed one night which was fine.

We enjoyed the thermal hotel and spa tremendously. The staff is extremely kind and helpful, the room well-appointed (fridge, microwave, dishes, utensils, kettle) not to mention your own hot tub, although we used the hotel’s pools which are super nice. There is a lovely lakeside path right across the street. It was delightful and we were only sorry that we couldn’t stay longer!

We stayed for 3 nights recently and found the property had everything we needed. It had a good sized kitchen and bathroom and a huge comfy bed. It's close to the town centre, cafes and shops. Carol was really lovely, very welcoming and helpful. The 4 hot pools are amazing and spacious.
