“I was really looking forward to my stay at The Candlesticks. However as soon as I entered, I began to have my doubts. The bar area, where the owner received us, looked particularly shabby and it smelt musty. It was 3pm (an hour after checking-in should have started) and the room wasn't ready. “We try and come here every year, the staff of both the hotel and the spa are lovely. The place is a little tired but that only adds to its charm. First time we’ve been charged for robes which has never happened before (they’re usually provided in the room). We were quite surprised given we’d already spent a considerable amount on spa treatments and the weekend break itself.”
