Great family resort.

The Sands is a great resort for families and especially those with younger children. The pools are great and also there is a good playground area. We loved the rooms with their own pools,these were also great for young families. I'd highly recommend this resort.

Lovely hotel in the heart of Khao Lak centre. Very convenient for exploring outside the hotel, with town on your doorstep. Staff very friendly, nothing too much trouble. We stayed in a sea view suite which was clean and had plenty of space. Also managed early check in which was appreciated after travelling for 24hrs. Would stay again. Family of 4, 2 adults 2 teen boys

Good hotel with friendly staff. A bit worn down though.. but over all good! A big plus was that they had knowledge about glutenintolerance and had an all glutenfree meny! Good for me as a person with celiac disease :)

Lovely resort! I feel the resort is best suited to families with children under 7 - as everything shuts down so early. Lots of babies and young children and programs for the littles. The nightly performances and live shows were wonderful room was spacious clean and felt like a taste of home - loads of room to spread out kids stuff and still have space leftover Food was average but there were awesome restaurants when you walk down the beach The beach was spectacular! Warm sea water and clean!

Excellent resort in Khao Lak. Rooms were spacious and very comfortable beds. Pools were amazing and both big and small kids absolutely loved lazy river. Food at Talay restaurant was delicious and staff always helpful. Definitely recommend this resort to everyone.

Property has seen better days. There were bagworms hanging from the toilet roof, toilet fittings are mouldy and rusting. Rooms smelt like they had been air freshened with toilet deodorant. Bedroom furniture is also worn out and not kept in good condition. It could also have been the season when I was visiting, but there are flies everywhere at dining premises. The main restaurant we used for breakfast was not air conditioned, which probably exacerbated the flies issue. On the upside, the pools were very nice, it was about the part of the stay that we enjoyed the most. We checked out 2 days early and moved to another hotel. Definitely not the 4.5 stars that it's meant to be.

Amazing hotel

We absolutely loved our stay with all. Staff are so attentive and friendly couldn’t do enough to help us. We were lucky enough to be there for new years eve oh my goodness what a party!! Totally unexpected as we didn’t know it was happening, amazing food, entertainment, and the staff worked so hard all day and evening.

Liked that it was right on the beach and close to small town. Liked that it had a water park and kids club on site. Did not like that it was very crowded and too many people, too few sun beds. Staff were also not very Good at understanding English.

Many areas for all to enjoy. Rooms very comfortable. Even asked to by mattress topper as it was so comfortable. Some areas need maintenance such as Aqua Zone with rust and sharp edges. Timber rotting around pool access rooms and plenty of ant's. Overall will def come back. Easy walk to shops, markets and restaurants. And cheaper than Patong region. 6 times to Thailand and Khao Lak has been the best. And Sands best resort so far

Lovely quiet getaway, but don’t be sneaky

Overall was a good stay, however a bit of a swifty was pulled - we paid for a family pool suite, and clearly was the junior pool suite (difference of around $40 AUD per night) - but were told it was the right room just in a different area - but their room layouts on their own website disprove this. The room was probably preferable in the end (more private) but the fact we paid more, and they tried to do this secretly. Also happened to two other families we spoke to while there. Beds were rock hard and pillows too soft so we slept poorly (we left a feedback form after the first night, but was never picked up) The general manner of the staff was fine - FoH staff were not as friendly as you’d expect, but hospitality and room service were absolutely lovely. The facilities were good, great pools, and pool side rooms are a must to avoid noise all day long. BBQ buffet was sensational. I would give it a 7/10 overall, slightly generous seeing the room issue.

The resort is wonderful for kids. The rooms are spacious and clean. The beds and facilities are clean and well kept up. The breakfast buffet was varied and something for everyone. We often sat there for an hour enjoying the breakfast and atmosphere. We loved the water park. Just have to pay attention to the schedule for the slide and lazy river. But the kids got used to that and enjoyed it so much that they even used it in the rainy days. The beach is walkable but no one was using the many lounging chairs because it was rainy season with red flags warnings. I highly recommend this resort for anyone who has children
