Ideal location, close to many restaurants, shopping malls. Friendly staff and clean facilities. The gym was very nice. Staff provided a quick tour. We stayed several nights. The only issue was the dryer in the laundry room, it took a while to dry and my clothes were removed even though I kept checking within the allowed time. There was only 1 washer and 3 dryers in the 5th floor laundry room. The iron is located there as well. (I called the front desk to ask for an iron and was initially told there was none but saw when using the laundry facilities.) Overall a great location and would stay here again.

For a Taipei lived person, I think this is the best hotel if travelers drive to Taichung and enjoy the local Taichung style. Comfortable and convenient, excellent.

There is some construction adjacent to the property. There was a gym next door and a night market across the street. Walking distance to Taichung Park and a small cute red bridge. A very old (75 year) Christian church (Grace Memorial) was also nearby.

Several notable bonuses for staying at Lailai set it apart from other hotels: 1) it shares the building with World Gym, the franchise started by Arnold Schwarzenegger. The hotel provides a voucher for guests to work out for free. They say it is the largest gym in Taiwan, and the variety of exercise machines, weight machines, and free weights seems to bear that out. If you're addicted to working out like me, you may even feel spoiled . There's a broad offering of exercise classes and hotel guests are welcome, also for no fee. Note, the mid afternoon classes cater to retirees. 2) an excellent breakfast buffet is included. The variety of dishes is surprising. More impressive is that many of the dishes changed on the second day of my stay. So often these hotels will serve the same breakfast day after day, so that after a few days even the delicious food seems boring. 3) free laundry! The basket in your closet has your room number on it. If you happen to leave your clothes in the washing machine or dryer too long, the next person to come along can simply dump your clothes into the bucket and just get there wash on. The one issue I did have was that the AC did not bring my room to a comfortable temperature. Apparently, the 9th floor AC units are not as effective as those on the 6th floor. The staff was super about changing my room immediately and letting me know not to expect the room to cool below 20° C.

Clean room, nice hotel staff, delicious breakfast! You must bring your own bar of soap and any other amenities you would need. Only body wash, shampoo & conditioner are provided. We stayed in the family suite which was three separate living spaces, also with two toilets, and one bath/shower. It was a spacious room and a lovely stay!! Thank you Lai Lai!

This hotel is directly opposite a busy night market and is close to many convenience stores and shopping. Rooms are clean and they were also kind enough to change rooms for us when the Aircon in our original one wasn't working properly. Front desk was also responsive, friendly and efficient. Breakfast was so-so in terms of variety but still good to have in the morning. Definitely a good place to stay in Taichung!

Cleanliness needs to be improved.

In general, the hotel condition reflected what described during booking. The room layout was designed in consideration of privacy, space, and flow. The bathroom layout was fully functional with separate vanity, toilet and bathtub with shower. A recommendation to the bathroom would be to insert glass doors to the toilet and shower respectively. This would maintain privacy when using the toilet and avoid water splash to the wet area using the shower. Customer service in general was satisfactory, and especially courteous and considerate in the restaurant serving daily breakfast. A takeaway lunchbox was prepared for the elderly who woke up late in the morning. The cleanliness of the room would be a concern to us during our stay as we found dust in various 'obvious' areas such as the TVs and the edges along the vanity. Photos attached showed the condition of cleanliness. COVID safety measures was implemented effectively and adequately.

My first room had visible black mold, including areas where the mold had been covered by wall paper. It smelled horribly but having arrived from the US I was too exhausted to ask for a new room the first night. I was politely moved to a different room the next day & supplied with a dehumidifier. It was an improvement but even running constantly it was never less than 65% humidity & musty smell. Despite the kindness of the staff, I wouldn’t recommend because of the issues with mold & mildew.
