The hotel is a beautiful, historic, and charming. We loved the old doors and carved wood; it was like walking back in time....all beautifully well preserved. The staff was warm and friendly and very welcoming. We ate at both hotel restaurants and the food and service were superb. The disappointment was our room was in need of renovation/updates. It was comfortable, but the walls were heavily stained and in need of painting and the desk chair was worn and the seat cushion had a lump in the center. We also received very old bath linens; one of the towels actually had a hole in the center! There was tape left on the window framing from someone who had previously hung decorations in the room. It did not feel as though enough attention was being given to the in-room experience. We would return, but we did feel the comfort and experience the quality we would expect at a four-star hotel.
