“I was really looking forward to my stay at The Candlesticks. However as soon as I entered, I began to have my doubts. The bar area, where the owner received us, looked particularly shabby and it smelt musty. It was 3pm (an hour after checking-in should have started) and the room wasn't ready. It wasn't such a big deal, but it was another warning sign. I was in a single room, which made a certain saying about a cat spring to mind. The bathroom was fine and the tea/coffee making facilities were...

“We stayed just the one night and left early. Very hot and no aircon and a fan that struggled. If you are travelling with more than just an overnight bag… pre-request the ground floor to limit the number of stairs and narrow hallways you have to lug your luggage (no lift). Outside of this… it is an old hotel with history and if you are looking for something quaint and a little different, this might be just up your alley”

“Stayed here many times but disappointed the room (carpet) didn't look clean, bathroom, this is only room with a bath and this will be the third time I've had this room and the bath taps don't work you can only use the shower. Previously I've had water in the room but not this time. Didn't look like the tea, coffee, etc. had been topped up”
