Excellent location

Beautiful setting, views were great from our Fish Eagle loft. Walking distance to museums, restaurants and the little town centre. Short drive to farms and nature reserve.

Overnight stay

Stayed in Aan de Oever for 1 night en route to Plettenberg. The B&B is very quaint but beautifully decorated. It’s located in a quiet and what seems like a very safe neighbourhood. There are good restaurants at close walking distance and the main town is also close by. The guesthouse is by a river overlooking the mountains. They have a beautiful garden amass with birds and flowers. There’s a small swimming pool and a plunge pool. Check in was easy, staffs are very nice, friendly and accommodating. Our room was beautiful and clean, small little touches like flowers on our bed and bathroom, a small bag of muffins for the road made us feel more welcome and appreciated. Breakfast was excellent, good and varied choices of food and drinks are available. Information about restaurants and surrounding areas were provided to guest in the room. They even washed our car which was very dusty after driving to Malmoth natural reserve! It’s a shame that we are only staying for 1 night. I would highly recommend this place.

Schönes B&B

Wir haben uns für einen Zwischenstopp in Swellendam auf unsere Südafrikareise entschlossen. Eine nette Kleinstadt mit schönen alten Gebäuden! Das Aan de Over liegt in einer sehr schönen ruhigen Straße am Fuß des Berges. Das Haus aus der Kollonialzeit ist sehr schön eingerichtet und das Personal ist sehr nett. Das Frühstück ist sehr gut! Wir würden das Aan de Oever wieder buchen.

Wonderful surprise stop on our way from Cape Town to the Garden Route! Swellendam is a cute little place, very leafy and quaint. And Aan de Oever is perfectly located in a quiet street just a few mins walk from nice restaurants (one of which they pre-booked for us without having to request it- Drosdy! One of the best meals of our trip). They upgraded us to a very spacious room and we just enjoyed relaxing on the beautiful grounds for a few hours. It’s set next to a little river and the pool deck has great mountain views. Overall the perfect experience, highly recommended.

We stayed only one night at Aan de Oever, but definitely wished we stayed longer. Lovely guest house with a secluded pool area and very nice stylish rooms (we stayed in the Barn Owl attic room on Christmas Eve). Everyone is very friendly, service is great, and they even washed all the parked cars the next morning. Super breakfast! The house is also close to Swellendam center (Swellendam itself is a lovely little town), and we would particularly recommend walking to Drosdy‘s restaurant — Probably the best food we had in SA. Overall, more than 100% satisfied and tremendous value for money!

Ein sehr schönes Zimmer ist mit allem Komfort und sehr Grosszügig Eingerichtet, dabei noch ein eigener Sitzplatz. Die Herzlichkeit und das aufgestellte Personal habe ich sehr genossen. Die ganze Anlage ist an einer herliche und ruhige Lage und der wunderschöne Garten mit Pool ist sehr gepfelgt. Schlussendlich gibt es für jeden Gast ein privaten Parkplatz. Es war alles so perfekt und schön, vielen Dank!

Abbiamo avuto la fortuna di avere la camera familiare, una camera bellissima suddivisa su 2 piani, il piano giorno, con soggiorno e cucina, e il piano notte con 2 camere da letto. La camera è molto curata, e i letti comodissimi. Da notare la gentilezza con cui siamo stati accolti, e assistiti durante tutto il soggiorno. Alla fine del pernottamento, ci avevano anche preparato un piccolo spuntino da portarci durante il viaggio. Se siete in questa zona, questo è il posto giusto dove pernottare.

We absolutely loved this place. It was beautiful, charming, comfortable, and the staff was beyond friendly and helpful. So many nice little touches too. It was a last-minute booking necessitated by a change in our overall itinerary, but ended up being one of our favorite places to stay on our trip. Really wish we could have spent more time at Aan de Oever.

Super schönes Hotel, toller Ausblick!

Das Hotel lässt an nichts zu wünschen übrig. Reichhaltiges Frühstücksbuffet, super schönes und großes Zimmer, toller Service, toller ruhiger Ort, bezaubernder Ausblick auf die Berge direkt vom Pool aus. Bei schönem Wetter Frühstück man auf der Terrasse (leicht zu sehen auf dem Bild)
