The Sussex Motel is one of those simple 1960's era motels that are fast disappearing. You know the type: drive up and park right in front of your door, you have an old fashioned metal key, the room is spacious enough to sleep 12, if you had to. But, the place has been modernized -- and nicely at that. It's clean, everything works, the water pressure is forceful and the staff is delightful. One thing, though: there is no one manning a front desk, so you must have a cell phone to check in. You call the number posted on the office door, and the charming young lady who runs the motel comes out, greets you, hands you that old fashioned key and gives you the run-down on all the sites and eateries and taverns within a 5-mile radius of the motel. Couldn't ask for better than that! Very good, all around.

Admittedly from the road looks like your typical low budget motel, however the recently renovated room was fantastic. Large flat screen tv, fridge, comfortable beds. On site manage was fantastic to deal with. They even received compliments from a nearby dining establishment while I was waiting on dinner on how much care the manager is putting into upgrading. Definitely plan on staying when working nearby next year.

The staff was excellent, friendly and accommodating! I had messaged them and they took care of my needs before I arrived! Popular hotel chains have struggled with this issue! The room was extremely clean and cozy. I love a room with hardwood floors! The locals outside were an added touch and extremely helpful with recommendations !

We had a really good time here. We stayed here since it was close to Mountain Creek. The room was very nice and had nice amenities such as the spacious fridge with a freezer, microwave, and toiletries such as body wash and shampoo if you needed it. We also liked the smart tv too since we just signed into our apps. Overall the place was really nice and just like it’s pictures.
