The Bidwell House is a little piece of heaven on earth. It is clean, peaceful, beautifully decorated and very hospitable. The cookies and food are excellent. The hostess is so accommodating. Each room has its own character and charm. I stay here often and love it.

Beautiful room decor in a well maintained older building. Large room and sitting area, jet tub was great. Breakfast isn’t served until 8:30 so don’t be in a hurry to leave.

Room was clean. Breakfast was awesome. And staff was wonderful. My only comment is that mattress and pillows are due for replacement in the Meadow View Suite. Other than that it was a wonderful two days!

Not a lot of “ nicer” places to stay in the Lassen area, this met our need and is seemingly the best act in town if not the region. Chester, overall, was disappointing as a destination but the Bigwell was very nice, breakfast a treat. Our room only had a tub and not easy to use at that - it was very difficult for my wife to use . Otherwise, no complaints.

Breakfasts were very delicious. A cookie jar full of homemade cookies was a nice touch. The sunroom and gazabo were comfy places to sit and read or enjoy a glass of wine. The grounds were lovely. The bed was comfortable; smaller, fluffier pillows would be a good update.

The place was cute, clean and well maintained - sort of on the B&B side of a motel. The property is located 40 mins from the entrance to Lassen Volcanic National Park (in light traffic). The park was why we were there. We stayed for 5 nights. They don't even begin serving breakfast until 8:30 am. You won't get out of there until an hour later. It puts a serious dent in plans to get out and hike in the park. The first morning of our stay, breakfast was one piece of rye bread, spead with hummus and two over-easy eggs on top. Nothing else. What other surprises awaited? For the rest of our stay, we did not hang around in the morning to find out. Paid for breakfast at Lola's down the road instead. That was really good. Also - the place is lacking some motel room type amenities that you would otherwise expect to find, especially when your guests are National Park hikers. No in-room fridge or coffee maker. Housekeeping visited once during our stay. Not a bad alternative for park visitors, but little understanding and attention is being paid to the needs of their clientele.
