Perfect honeymoon location

Hotel La Palma was the most perfect hotel for our honeymoon. It’s so close to the shops and restaurants, and the ferry that takes you to the islands. The sky bar pool was incredible and breakfast was delicious. We will definitely be back!

If you value beauty and tranquility then this is your place. Hotel La Palma was gorgeous. The staff were great and friendly. The location was perfect, you are able to see the coastline and the mountains. It is conveniently located near the train station so if you’d like to go into a busier area you have that option. My accommodation included complementary breakfast and it was so good! It had a lot to offer which was nice.

Really lovely hotel to stay in, staff were great - always helpful. Comfortable bedroom with view of the lake from the balcony and the view from the Skybar was spectacular. Lovely dinner options in the main restaurant too.

The location right on the lake was perfect and within easy walking distance to town. The room had a lake view which was fantastic. Breakfast overlooking the lake was incredible. All the staff were friendly and very helpful.

Worth the money

Great place, great location, nice town. Staff were very helpful, especially with our early check out and preparing a breakfast. Wish we could have stayed longer. Will definitely be back.

This is a beautiful property in a lovely location. The hotel is elegant, with a modern sense of style. The Sky Bar on the roof with pool and sundeck is fantastic. The breakfast buffet is sumptuous and quite extensive. Overall, a wonderful hotel experience that made us love Stressa!

Great location, right on the lake with its own private pool, pier and lake access. Modern design which is a contrast to the surrounding Italian style properties. Breakfast was great; huge selection, great quality and ability to eat in the garden with lake views. With the exception of the reception staff, pool guy (forgot his name) and the managers in the restaurant the rest of the staff lacked 4 star service. Service on the roof top bar was slow and the staff that were around didn’t smile or engage well. Maybe it was just hot… Our room was small and even smaller when we had an extra bed put in it. I know this was our choice, but to be then charged 40 Euro per night for the privilege was not a pleasant surprise at the end. This wasn’t hugely clear through Expedia when i booked. Overall a great stay, but a few refinements would have made it a better value stay and better 4 star experience.

Very close to all there is to see in Stresa. Wonderful breakfast service. We also have dinner one night and it was pretty good. We had a lake view balcony and we enjoyed a couple of drinks there watching the boats and people go by. My only complain would be that this October was unseasonably hot, and the AC was turned off for the whole building. The common areas were hot, and the room, a bit too warm for my taste. We did open the windows, but then there would be mosquitos coming in, and noice from the street. They did lend me a stand up fan and that helped me sleep a bit better.

Great hotel with stunning views

We spent 3 happy days at La Palma. The views of Lago Maggiore were just stunning and the location allowed a short walk to many restaurants in Stresa. Our room was modern, up to date, and in perfect condition The Sky Bar on the roof was a great spot for lunch, snacks, or drinks. Staff was friendly and gracious; free parking a welcome bonus. Our only issue was the stylish but impractical lounge chaises on our terrace. They desperately needed cushions and their unadjustable design prevented them from being a comfortable spot to lay back and read. We hope management will consider switching them for the ones out by the lakeside pool and adding cushions. Or, how about day beds? Now that would be amazing.

The photo on Expedia does not do this hotel justice. It is a very large modern hotel with an attractive facade and the sunbeds and pool on the roof are a very small part of the hotel. The free car park was in the grounds of some derelict houses adjacent to the hotel but it was fine and secure with a barrier. Our room was comfortable but we opened the balcony doors for some air overnight and it was very noisy at times. There were no tea or coffee making facilities which we did expect for a hotel of the calibre and cost but there was a mini bar. The breakfast was acceptable.
