We arrived in Geiranger just as it was getting dark, so we didn’t realize what a view we had until the next morning—absolutely stunning! Opening the window to see the fjord was unforgettable. The hotel has a quaint, relaxing vibe, and the breakfast was hands-down the best we had on our trip. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Geiranger!

Hotell Utsikten boasts an absolutely stunning view of the Geirangerfjord — it’s hard to imagine a more scenic spot. The hotel has a classic Norwegian charm, with a vintage style that feels authentic and cozy. I loved the view, the food and the staff was very nice too! You can walk 5 min up to a beautiful viewpoint. 45min down through a cute hike to geiranger. Easy accessible parking.

Unbelievable view! Definitely get the fjord view room on level 3. The hotel is old so be prepared to walk the stairs- there is no elevator. The beds are comfy, but the bathrooms are super small & old.

The hotel is a gem in Geiranger. It sits up high in the mountain overlooking the Geirangerfjord. The common areas on the first floor are top class. One can watch the fantastic views of the fjord from within the hotel lobby (which has ample sitting space with views. The flydalsjuvet view point is literally 2-3 minutes walk from the hotel. The breakfast includes many choices to get the day started on a positive note. The most important and positive part of the service. We felt that the reception staff and kitchen staff really goes above and beyond to take care of the hotel guests. One special mention is Margo at the reception desk. She was super helpful with all the local information and was also fun to chat with. One minor thing about the hotel is tiny bathrooms and specifically shower stall. Even an average size person may have difficulty taking proper shower there. I understand the hotel is 100+ year old and they may have relatively recently added bathrooms for each room outside of that one concern everything is great and would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area.

We loved our visit here! Very historical and well preserved facility! We had two children and although the restaurant only hade an a la carte menu, not suited for children, the kitchen offered us both bolognese and sausage. Loved the location, away from the busy and crowded tourist part of Geiranger. And the view was absolutely amazing!

Yes, I would stay there again!! This is an older property but maintained well and as you will see its about location location location. Our room was small but its expected in Europe and these faculties. Staff was amazing and breakfast selection very good. Remember it the view!!

The hotel is in a great location and is old but the rooms are dated and the queen with view room was so small to get round the bed the other person had to sit on the bed, there is no room for suitcases to open without blocking the door out, no wardrobe but a rack with 3 hangers, no tv, the bedside lamps don’t work as the sockets are blocked, the bathroom is dated and tiny. There’s no lift so 3 floors of carrying cases. The dinner menu only has 3 items but breakfast is good. One night is ok, just , but anymore is a pain in the poky rooms. On the plus side the staff are excellent, friendly and knowledgeable about the area.

Property has a unique location. View is fantastic. We had a late check in and the lady at the reception was very friendly. Rooms are extremely small and had basic amenities but the view was spectacular and it compensated for everything else. Highway 55 was an exciting drive. Shocked at the breakfast deadline given by the young lady who announced in a cold tone that they would be closing the breakfast room door at 10 AM and at 10.05 AM one would need to take plate and cutlery out and sit and eat at the table in the front reception. Felt we were in a boarding school than in one of the good hotels in Norway. Never experienced this in all my previous travels. Pierre at the front reception was great.
