We had an absolutely fantastic family stay at Valamar Amicor Resort in Hvar and would highly recommend it, especially for families with children. The resort is beautifully maintained, with a real focus on sustainability and being eco-friendly. We loved that they grow a lot of the food served at the resort, it made the whole experience feel fresh, thoughtful, and connected to the surroundings. For the kids, the water slide and inflatable water playground were a huge hit and definitely one of the highlights of the stay! There was plenty to keep them entertained, which made it just as relaxing and enjoyable for us. The location is also excellent. The beautiful town of Stari Grad is only around a 15 minute walk or 5 minute drive away. We also tried the taxi boat across, which the girls absolutely loved and made getting into town part of the adventure. Hvar Old Town is only about 30 minutes away by car, so it’s very easy to explore more of the island. What really stood out, though, was the staff. Everyone was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful, which made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Free parking at the resort was another nice bonus. We only spent two days at Amicor, but we could easily have stayed for a full week. A wonderful, family-friendly resort in a beautiful part of Hvar, we would definitely come back and recommend it without hesitation!

Nice stay!

The staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful, and we appreciated the free upgrade! The room was clean and comfortable, and the location was great - just a quick drive to Stari Grad. I liked that the food and wine was local, but would have liked to see more local dishes included. The room was not quite as nice or luxurious as it looked in the photos, but overall it was a lovely stay!

Great family focused resort

Lovely setting in the pines, stylish room comfortable and clean, great air con. Pool area nice and fun slides but lacks an easily accessible bar. Beach area also nice but not enough sun beds and there’s a bar but never open! Food choice is good but service for getting a drink is slow. Kids club is brilliant, clean and large. Best bit was the 15 min walk into stari grad town which is beautiful. Eco messaging also a nice touch.

Overall we had a wonderful stay at Valamar Amicor Resort and would be keen to return. The facilities are great and our children particularly enjoyed the variety of age-appropriate water slides and pool toys. Staff were helpful and considerate, particularly at check-in when we were invited to leave our bags and be escorted to dinner as it was late and approaching closing time. Food was sufficiently varied and of a high standard for buffet style; we never struggled for something to eat. Housekeeping seemed to vary throughout the week, sometimes excellent and sometimes a little sub-par. For example, on some days waste/recycling bins in our room were not emptied; on another, the bath mat was taken but not replaced so we had to improvise with a hand towel. The coffee machine in the room was also hit-and-miss; I think it needs replacing. At breakfast, the availability of barista-style coffee was inconsistent, with some waiting staff offering this proactively and some seemingly reluctant to do so. If you venture further (e.g. to the beach), there are some rather dilapidated buildings around which either need demolishing or redeveloping (I believe Valamar are planning to do so). For the horror buff, the beach near Arkana (next door hotel) features an abandoned coffee kiosk that looks like a post-apocalyptic movie set.

Great resort in a magical setting with lots to do

Super place, great staff and well managed. Nothing was too much trouble and they have thought of everything. Quality of the suites was excellent, air con was working well and it is all eco friendly which is a plus. Food great quality and varied, and sports offers super. Close proximity to beautiful crystal water beaches (bring swim shoes!) and the lovely town was a plus.
