In St Ives for the Music Festival
Olivers Lodge is certainly a bit tired and run down these days, but it is clean, quiet, in a great location for St Ives and the bus to Cambridge and, perhaps most importantly, the staff are lovely, the breakfast is excellent, and it offers great VFM.

Hotel or B&B you decide
This is not what I would call a Hotel as such, more of a B&B feel with numerous long stay workers using this hotel as a base.
Has a very dated feel with the furnishing in the bar well past their best, that said it is clean and comfortable.
Rooms again are basic with very small TV, but yes they are clean and comfortable.
My biggest issue was the shower which I essentially gave up on as I could get more water pressure walking though a mild mist.
Breakfast was perfectly acceptable
In summery, a no frills place to lay your head but a little on the pricey side

I have stayed at Olivers Lodge a few times in the past but pre Covid . It felt like the accommodation had fewer staff, there was no one around to check in when I arrived early . Also it was disappointing to find that paper cups are now being used for teas and coffee and juices at breakfast in the morning. Whilst I have always been happy with my stays here, there was a sense of tiredness and neglect around the place . The staff however remain friendly.

A few days in St Ives
OK, so the property looks a little tired, but we were more than happy with our stay here and have booked again for a music festival in September. The location is great (a 5 minute walk into St Ives or the bus to Cambridge), all of the hotel staff are really warm and friendly, the breakfast is excellent and the rooms are clean - so for the money it is great !
Family run business, inexpensive, welcoming, attentive staff. Good breakfast, easy parking. Would benefit from redecoration, and attention to poor condition of rear parking area. Overall, a good place to stay in an interesting small town.
Staff where great however the hotel is very tired, no bar open, no food available until Jan 22?? Rooms are very minimal and untidy. Shower doesn't work so well?
Check in was quick and friendly. The room was nice and the wifi was great (other hotels take note!).
The breakfast was very basic for what I paid but that was a temporary measure.
Free parking was a bonus.
The hotel was well located for the work I was doing, but easy to miss in the dark with cars parked on the roadside. Free parking on site. The room was okay, although the shower was very weak, and although I understand it was eco friendly, it was just a trickle. The hotel has dining facilities, but not on Monday nights, so I had to go out, which is something I prefer not to do. Free in room wifi. A good breakfast from 7.00am.
Service at reception was exceptional, lady was so nice, but all I remember is being woken twice by the housekeeper! Specifically chose because 11am check out due to having a long drive. Door was chapped at 9.55am and then 10.10am so I just gave up and left at 10.30am!! It was an actual key for the room so easy to check I had not yet checked out.
Another great stay at this hotel, it is certainly value for money. The only suggestion i could make is the decor of the room, this is now the second stay and different room each time. The rooms need to be brightened up, dark carpets or dark walls are really not that inviting. Staff always very friendly and helpful

Great place to stay. Room was nice size and quiet. Shower could have done with a boost as it was not much more than a trickle but bath was good. Friendly, helpful staff and good breakfast.

Great location!
Room was clean and staff were friendly and helpful. Big car park so easy parking. Good tea/coffee tray in the room. The hotel is in a great location just a very short walk to the shops bars and restaurants of St Ives.
Sadly the shower was hopeless, very weak. Also the television was not well placed in our room and had to be avoided to get to one side of the bed! Also plastic cups wrapped in plastic in the bathroom and plastic single use toiletries - not planet friendly.
Only minor niggles - would stay here again and would recommend.
