Very Good

We arrived somewhat late and the office had already closed. However, all the information we needed was taped to the office door and soon we were in our unit. The light had been left on so we could see our way around the unit and we felt at home right away.

Northwoods Retreat
We stayed in the hotel room. It had a nice kitchen and bathroom. No dishwasher so you are responsible to sterilize all the eating and cooking utensils before you leave. The sofa was the only place to sit other than at a table. The sofa was broken down and very uncomfortable to sit in and get out of. The bed was king size with 3 pillows and ok to sleep on. The bathroom was fixed up nicely. The area around the lodge needed a lot of work, paint, walkways (some closed), etc as well as the restaurant was closed for remodeling. There are many rental choices of lake equipment. But you have to ask rather than them giving you a pricing sheet with equipment and prices. The lodge area has very beautiful woods and water all around and walking was nice. The lodge was very quiet day and night. Even tho we were in the hotel part, we had to bag up all our garbage and take it to the dumpster or be fined. We also had to bag up our linen and blanket.
Too many jet-skis and inconsiderate operators. If you like to fish, this is not the property for you. We didn't realize they and another nearby resort rent jet skis, but it really shouldn't have been an issue either way. Unfortunately, even though the lake is plenty big enough, the jet skis have no concern for people trying to fish or do other lake activities such as paddle boarding or kayaking.

The amenities were great. Kayaks paddle boards row boats included. Jet skis pantoon boats on site for extra charge. Beach area was nice and we liked the fire pits. Beautiful location
Loved the house we stayed in. The only thing we didn't like was the bathroom didn't look like it had been cleaned. The towel was brown like it was old water. The tub looked like it also had not been cleaned. I cleaned it up. Looked like soap scum. We would still go back though.
Stayed here for 4 days and it was very relaxing with a beautiful view we had day and night! Great place to get away from the city life! Definitely coming back soon!
Beautiful property right on the lake with beautiful views. Quiet and secluded. We went in October and there was no one else there. I imagine the summer months are very busy. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and the pull-out couch was even worse. We would'nt stay there again because of the bed. Otherwise it was perfect.
It is a beautiful property. Great views of the lake except from the suites we stayed in. We would recommend the cabins or condos instead, While the suite we stayed in was clean and adequate, It needed many updates and had a parking lot view. We may return but we be more careful in lodging selection. Very peaceful. Friendly people.
The resort itself is good. All the kitchen items were clean, the unit was nice. The property seemed to be taken care of. The view was great. Right on the water. If we brought a boat it would be a great place.
Our only major complaint was we purposely called before booking to make sure it was on a UTV / ATV trail. IT IS NOT. Our entire trip was messed up because of bad information. We had to pack up our machines and drive to get to the trails which is not an easy thing to do when you have 3 machines.
Probably a great place for snowmobiles but nut utvs.
Prime location for use of all three lakes. On-site boat, pontoon and jet ski rental. Plenty of kayaks and boats for free usage. Very clean grounds. Nice sandy beech and swimming area. Plenty on wood for camp fires. Like most of the north woods, WiFi and cell coverage very limited.
We had a nice stay at Black Bear Lodge. I was looking for a cabin on the lake so it was a great option. It is a beautiful resort with nice amenities such as kayaks and paddle and row boats available for use free of charge. Being right on Little St. Germain Lake was nice and they had a nice public beach and docks for guests.
The cabin we stayed at was connected to two other cabins which would have been nice to know beforehand but the neighbors were quiet and pleasant. They also had a communal campfire area that we were hesitant to use when others were congregating around it.
They mentioned a restaurant on site, but it has been closed since March. It would have been better if they had included a COVID-19 update on either hotels.com or their website so guests know what to expect for cleanliness practices and amenities that were closed or unavailable during the time of stay.
The furniture in the cabin could be updated, but comfortable enough if you don't spend a lot of time indoors.
Overall, a very nice stay and resort with good service if you are looking for a true northwoods experience.

Beautiful lake view, 2 bedroom/2bath condo was plenty big for 3-4 people. Due to the pandemic the restaurant was closed. Not a lot of people staying so was very quiet. Only problem was it is a no pet property and the couch was covered with dog hair, I bought a lint roller in town to clean it off and covered with a blanket. When I told them at check out just kind of shrugged their shoulders, no real apology or offer to compensate.

I needed a hotel for one night in St. Germain WI for my nephew's graduation. We have family that lives in St. Germain. Expedia listed Black Bear Lodge as an option. The price was high for one night but I decided to go with it anyway. The day of the reservation, I received a call from a person from Black Bear Lodge saying they could not honor the reservation because it was for only one night. She said that they were fully booked anyway. The Expedia website did not state this. I had to scramble to make other accommodations. When I scrambled to find other reservations, I noticed that Black Bear still had availability for that night and I could have rebooked it. I am not sure Expedia is to blame for this. I get he impression that Black Bear Lodge wanted to maximize profits at the expense of a family who needed a room.
Beautiful property and great location. Was able to experience so much wildlife from numerous deer and even a new born fawn right outside our walkout patio and a black bear sighting also. Had a problem with the resort not receiving our reservation through expedia but it was taken care of.

We didnt have any heat for the first day and it in the low 40's. We had to call twice
The cabin was nicely situated at the lake making it convenient for our ice fishing trip. There are also many trails in the area for snowmobiles. The resort has a casual, laid back bar with friendly staff. The cheese curds are the best we've ever had. The cabin we had will comfortably sleep up to six people. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare your own meals if you prefer. There is also has a fish cleaning house so you don't have to mess up the kitchen in your cabin. We look forward to our next trip up for ice fishing as well as future warm weather trips for open water fishing!
