The hotel is old and a bit run down. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. There is no air conditioning but that wasn't a problem. There is a restaurant that we didn't use. There isn't anything nearby but about 1/2 mile walk there were a lot of restaurants. It was fine for a one night stay before a cruise.

Staff were very helpful. The meals at the restaurant were great. There is no air conditioning anymore at this hotel. You could see the spot on the wall where they ripped out the thermostat (didn't even paint it over). And you could see the vents where AC used to flow from.

The best part about this property was the staff, who were very helpful, arranging for storage of our luggage until check-in time and taking care of a broken chair. Thank you to Sara for the help. The room was spacious but did not have air-conditioning. Two fans were provided but at the time we visited, opening windows proved adequate. The staff had told us we could get anothercfan if needed. We did not avail ourselves of the breakfast. The property is about a 45-minute walk from the cruise ship terminal and train station, with only one moderate incline, depending on the route taken. Shopping including the city center and mall is about a 10-minute walk.

The place was generally kept clean. The check in process was a little challenging since there was only one staff to handle a flood of people. The room was very comfortable and spacious. The amenities were adequate for its purpose. The in-house restaurant was very good. The breakfast buffet was adequate for any traveller. The location was close to town center with plenty of shops to choose from. And, it was close to the cruise port where we would embark for another journey.

The hotel does not have aircon even on the middle of a heatwave, only the restaurant and lobby have aircon, The advertisement on the website is misleading because they did not indicate that there is no aircon, although they did not advertise that aircon is included. To me I always assume that there is always aircon. The room does not have telephone. The positive side is that the bathroom is clean. The shower temperature is very difficult to control, sometimes the water turned very hot.

We stayed here for 4 days before a cruise and the hotel has amazing staff but the hotel lacks some things. The rooms were very ill equipped. No glasses only 2 coffee mugs, no phone and of course no AC. The rugs had many stains and the bathroom was not very good. Very little counter space and lack of towel hooks and no face cloths. The bath tub where you have showers has very high sides and lack of grab bars so felt unstable. Also the tub was so narrow that you had to stand sideways to shower, Again no safety bars. I guess it was all right but not worth the money. STAFF - Sarah from the from the front desk was a gem and worked very hard to look after us. James, Poppy and Charlene also deserve a great big thank you for their hard work and service in the Social Club. I guess it's ok for a night or two.

The building is old and dingy. It has a musty odor and carpets are gross. If I had any idea how bad this place was I wouldn’t have stayed there. They also do not have air conditioning in rooms. If I had known that I wouldn’t have stayed there. The only positive thing for me was the bed - it was very comfortable. I booked last minute so unfortunately there weren’t many options.

It should have been more obvious that there was no air conditioning at this property. Especially when it's 30+ (90F) in the room. I would not have booked it. Employees were generally pleasant and helpful. The bathroom had obvious water damaged in bathroom and plenty of spiders. The bed was very hard. It was the most unpleasant hotel I've experienced in about 20 years. The food was ok in the restaurant, but the main feature was the AC. If booked during a cooler time, it would suffice for one night.

No one at the front desk. A sign that says” check in at 3pm”. No air-conditioning during the hottest summer in the UK, June 2026. No safe, no phone or refrigerator in the room. They have water kettle and provide coffee packets & sugar. No cleaning or servicing the room unless you ask for it. I asked for it, they did it one day and I had to go down again to tell them because they didn’t clean it the second day of our stay. Bathroom has one bottle of something to wash your body and hair. The tub is narrow & deep. Very difficult to step out of it. Liked their towels. You can walk to the shopping area and to the central train station ( 15min or so). You have to pay for breakfast ~£11.

Good for 3 seasons but Summer

Service was friendly and prompt. Unfortunately, it was a warm Summer day and there are no air conditioners in the room. Our room did have a floor standing fan. The bathroom fan was squeaky, which could potentially wake up others. Otherwise, i would be happy staying in the other 3 seasons.
