I actually really enjoyed my stay at the Pack Horse. The staff at reception were really friendly & helpful. It was peaceful & private & clean & comfortable, although basic, reflecting the modest price.
But it wasn’t the room we were shown online when we booked & no food was available - as stated on the website.

Good ‘ol Pack Horse Inn
I was staying so I could visit family in Bittaford and Ivybridge so location for me was brilliant. It’s a nice little inn with lots of character and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I would stay there again definitely.

No food options available for either evening meal or breakfast. Room large, clean and comfortable but bathroom could do with repairs: leaking tap, missing towel rail and corner of bath panel broken.
Friendly staff.
Room very clean. Bed lovely & comfy. Could have done with a net that fitted window.
No breakfast or food but we only used as a base to visit relatives so that didn’t matter.
Fridge in room was good to chill drinks.
Stayed for business however was blown away with how spacious and comfortable the rooms were. Really clean, tidy and quiet. Would highly recommended staying here.

Beautifully comfortable bed and fantastic shower. Friendly welcome, good atmosphere in bar and great tapas. However, someone might like to attend to the roof of the building directly below bedroom 1, which offers unexpected views.

Very welcoming staff. Beautiful location. Dinner in the pub was amazing. The room didn't have a four poster as pictured but was stll very comfortable and clean. Shower left a lot to be desired.
Another stay at The Packhorse and we were not disappointed. The new management are welcoming and friendly.
We loved the Italian night menu on Thursday, receiving a first rate meal.
Our room was spacious and the bed very comfortable.
Many thanks.

One night stay
Checked in early thanks to 2 very helpful ladies. Room pretty basic but fine for my needs and great value. Barman very competent and helpful. Lovely beer garden. No food Tuesday night but I should have checked. Biggest problem is the noise as room directly above bar and facing onto road and window next to some extractor fan or the like. If you can’t deal with this then this is perhaps not for you.
Room 1. The room had been updated relatively recently. Comfortable bed, decent shower (once one worked out how it worked) and modern units. Blinds need attention so I just left them down. Some noise from below but room isnt over bar so wasnt a problem. Food basic pub grub but delicious. Excellent beer. Staff very busy. Responsive to requests but some guests may desire a more proactive approach.
Very pleasant stay. Well appointed and clean double bedroom. Friendly and accommodating staff. Nice breakfast and most enjoyable evening meal in the pub. Lovely steak and the ham and eggs looked good too!
Lovely welcoming hosts. So very friendly. Amazing food in the evening and the best breakfast too. Very comfortable room with everything we needed. Highly recommended. Very convenient location just off the A38
It is under new management. We were warmly welcomed and there was a great atm9sphere. Very good breakfast and lovely home made chicken pie and tender rump steak.
We found it homely and the hosts could not do more to make us welcome.
They are in the process of refurbishing and once finished the whole place will be superb.

No attention to detail
The owner/manager was very friendly and welcoming showing us to our room and gave us an explanation on keys and a place to get a coffee. The pub itself was cosy and clean.
Why we rated the room low was because the shower needed a good scrub as there was orange mold around the shower tray and black dirt also hairs on the screen and by the drain. The towels were clean but there was no complimentary shower gel/ shampoo. The bed was really squeaky and the pillows were more air than filling plus we were road side and was really noisy. The inn had lots of character and an old feel which we loved.
We totally get that we only paid £70 for the night, but we felt that the attention to detail wasn't there.
A couple of postives were the small fridge which was really useful and the free carpark at the rear.
