Hotel definitely needs to be refurbished. Certain areas more than others. Not the cleanest hotel but Staff was pleasant. There is a restaurant/bar in hotel which is convenient. Personally I thought $30 a day for valet parking for guests was ridiculously expensive considering they’re parking your car in the same parking deck as self parking and it’s less expensive and around the corner from the hotel.

The Heldrich is conveniently located in New Brunswick. The hotel is fairly up-to-date and breakfast is excellent. Pricing is great, especially considering the price of nearby hotels that offer identical amenities. My only complaint is lack of self-parking at the hotel. One must use their valet service or park at the Morris Street deck located on the block behind the property. The hotel does not validate parking.

The property’s only value is its location. The rooms are dated and in need of updating. It’s a nice looking building in an excellent location - right across the street from two performing arts venues and in the midst of Rutgers University. The lobby looks fine and so does the restaurant. But the rooms look like a budget motel. We only stayed there for convenience - we were attending an event at the hotel and the theater across the street. There was a wedding and a gala there Saturday evening, so that must have been too much for the kitchen staff to handle and they told us when we checked in that breakfast would not be available in the morning.
