Had a fantastic time staying in the Craven Shepherds Huts. The hut was cosy, clean and well equipped; just set back from the quaint pub which served delicious food.
The location was perfect for walking in the Dales. Will definitely be going back, a real gem that I'm glad to have discovered.
We had a lovely relaxing 3 night stay in the shepherd hut on the doorstep of the beautiful Craven Arms. A nice welcome box of assorted breakfast items was there when we arrived. The hut was so warm and cozy with underfloor heating and log burner and the view was breathtaking.
The Craven Arms is the most welcoming, amazing pub we've been lucky to visit in the UK. The stories about the owners and the pub are amazing. The regulars were super welcoming and happy to share a few pints and swap stories. The food is excellent and services is great!
And then there are the shepherd huts, so cozy, I only wished I stayed longer. I'll certainly be back!
Enjoyed it very much. Beautiful hut, very clean and cosy. Had a fantastic meal at the pub which was lovely. We had been expecting a log/peat burning stove and were a little disappointed to find it had been replaced with an electric one on a similar style, but totally understand why this change may have been made for eco reasons.
Fabulous stay, small, cosy, intimate and cute. Well equipped, very nicely done and spotless. Great pub next door, excellent food, service and atmosphere.
Would definitely return.
Amazing trip away, the pub is outstanding and the huts behind were brilliant to stay in.
There are no cooking facilities but we were aware and planned accordingly.
The mattress was not the most comfortable we have slept on but still would return in a heartbeat, had a brilliant trip away for a birthday treat.
Ideal base if you don’t want to stay in the big towns around. But everything within easy reach with a car. Initially booked as I could take my dog, which she loved. But be aware there are lots of cattle and sheep around. Pub is brilliant, very quirky and lovely staff. But they are always busy for evening meals, so best to book ahead.
Good location with walks directly from the door. The hut whilst relatively basic has a good shower however limited wet shave facilities as sink is far to small with no motor. Personally I think a small fridge would add so much more convenience. Lovely welcome pack of Tea Coffee and a small selection of breakfast items. We took our dog and where the huts are positioned would suggest the owners put a gate between the hut and carpark. I guess just need to be mindful it’s a Shepards Hut so won’t have luxuries
Excellent location. Clean, tidy and comfortable. Excellent to have a wood burning stove in the hut, for me a real selling point. However a shortage of fuel was a problem after asking repeatedly at the pub where check in/ out is managed there was still no fuel brought and while there was a small amount to start with it soon ran out and also it was peat log fuel so not as eco friendly as it could be however still very cosy and warm. Underfloor heating was nice although still quite cold at night and no extra blankets provided. Overall very nice stay and no real complaints.
If suggest to owner the following points...
A clock in hut would be useful.
Extra blankets or similar
Increase fuel supply maybe?
Extra shelf or similar on Wall at foot of bed?
Seriously though had a lovely time. Thank you so much!
We were walking The Dales Way and arrived on a very wet Sunday afternoon. The staff at the pub were extremely welcoming and reserved us a table for dinner. The shepherds hut was lovely and cosy (underfloor heating), exactly what we needed after a long wet walk! The breakfast hamper was very welcome too.
Wonderful stay.
Clean, cosy comfortable and a Welcome Pack of foods, teas and coffees.
Lovely pub with a great menu and beer selection.
Great staff and Service.
Lovely little Shepherds hut with everything you need for a few nights stay. Even got an unexpected breakfast hamper which was nice. Underfloor heating as well as log burner in the hut, so very cosy. Ideal location for lots of nice walks and right behind a country pub for good beers and food.
From start to finish I was very well looked after, the pub was very accommodating in terms of preparing my evening meal so as I could go hiking and eat it when I came back after kitchen was closed! Very relaxing night indeed! On a personal note, it would have been perfect if mattress was better, I suffer with a bad back anyway but I think the springs had seen better days
This was. In a totally stunning location. The huts were beautiful and lots of thought put into them. Loved the little fire in the hut really helped warm up the hut. Food was great in the pub but book a table as they get busy.
