A delight in every aspect—beautiful entrance and grounds, charming, helpful and friendly staff, grand staircase to our large room with high ceilings, and a full breakfast buffet both Italian and American style). Great location for the main sights, but a quiet neighborhood when they are not celebrating the Palio. Highly recommend choosing this place.

Can’t beat a 700 year old monastery with all the necessary modern amenities. The staff is polite and helpful, parking is close and the location convenient to the best and most important Siena attraction: the Duomo church.

We had a great stay at this lodging. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful; the breakfast crew was very nice. Breakfast offerings were varied and fresh. Our room was very quiet and clean. I use the Rick Steve travel journals a lot and this hotel absolutely should have been on his list of recommended hotels! It’s a true gem! From the warm, helpful staff to the glorious monestary details, the hotel was a delight. We stayed for a month and got to know the staff well. The staff was excellent – Ester and Gvantsa at the front desk were a big help in suggesting places to eat, helping with reservations and directions. They were very friendly and even helped us as we continued to learn the Italian language. Breakfast was wonderful – Valentina and Yousra were friendly and always had our morning cappuccino ready for us. They were accommodating on those occasions when we required an early breakfast. Ester, Gvantsa, Valentina and Yousra made us feel like family and we were sad to leave them after a month’s stay. A couple of things to know about the property: there is no elevator and just a few rooms on the ground floor so you will likely have to walk two or three flights of stairs. And there is no air conditioning before May 1st. When we first arrived in April, it was hot and we longed for the air conditioning. But we were provided with an oscillating fan that cooled off the room. The location is great – it is a ten-minute walk to Il Campo – and the property is beautiful. We highly recommend Il Chiostro del Carmine.
