The room was clean but very basic with no ability to make ourselves a tea or coffee without walking down two flights of very steep steps to the kitchen which was a health and safety nightmare - no idea why they could not have put a tea/ coffee station on the top floor. “What a beautiful hotel. I stayed in a superior double which was very well appointed. The bed was very comfortable, plenty of storage space, fluffy towels, plenty of hot water and excellent tea and coffee, biscuits and water. The owners were very friendly and made me feel most welcome. The breakfast was freshly cooked to order and was delicious. You would never go hungry. The air conditioning was a real bonus, although unfortunately it did drip a little water on the floor. My only other niggles...

“Lovely old building, beautifully clean and comfortable. Steve and Fiona were very welcoming and kind. Also, they cooked a mean breakfast from a varied menu. It was delicious. The only downside was the lack of parking outside The Bakehouse. It proved to be very difficult but the upside was that approx 60 yards away was a Car Park for only £3.30 for 24 hours! Highly recommend The Bakehouse if you are planning a visit to East Devon.”

“Friendly staff. Good location. Room was clean and had lots of tea and milk provided. Shower room a little smelly due to damp? but water lovely and hot. Breakfast was very nice. Pizza on 1st night tasty and good value but was not told that no meals provided on a Tuesday night but found somewhere else to eat easily We would stay hear again .”

Situated just off the high street with secure on site parking, and within walking distance of various eating establishments. Website is easy to use, and informative, covers everything you need to know about the property and local area. Jamie & Gary are fabulous hosts. Highly recommend this establishment.”

Good breakfast, location not bad but a killer of a hill to get back up at night, was ok as a base but if looking for a special occasion I’d look elsewhere”

“This is an olde worlde farm house displaying much of the history of the family who have lived here for 6 generations. We were looked after very well by Sam who cooked a great tradition British Breakfast. The room was clean and welcoming. To park the car on site you negotiate amongst the geese , ducks and chickens who provide the eggs for breakfast. We loved the place and will stay there on our next visit to the area.”
