Vacations Close To Severn Valley Railway Kidderminster Station

2 night, mid week stay at The Quays (Aug 2026). Ground floor room. Little soundproofing from upstairs rooms. Walking about (upstairs room) until 00:30. Started again 05:30, both nights. Hotel staff stating lots of frequent contract workers use the Quays (& stated as possible reason for unsociable, constant, footsteps noises heard from my bedroom). This occurred both nights & affected sleep. Discussed with the reception & I was advised that this was a known issue for people staying in downstairs rooms. £20 voucher for Green King given as compensation only. Take ear plugs if on ground floor. Better still, request upstairs room when booking. Functional facilities (but dated & worn), clean & fresh linen. Breakfast was prebooked (£7) & plenty of choice. Staff friendly. Evening meals in bar (until 20:30) - pub grub & ok. Suggested improvement with Quays team was: contract workers be on ground floor, to reduce issues for other guests not having late/early disturbance. £75 (apx) per night (inc breakfast). With better soundproofing/change to where contractors are located, this could be a much better experience. The area (Billing marina/Aquadrome) has seen better days, but was functional & I did not feel unsafe. ANPR & 24hr security cameras on car park (remember to register your vehicle on arrival).
