Vacations Close To Hummocks Trailhead

The location was solid as far as easy and convenient. We got some good egg sandos for breakfast from a food cart a block away. That was cool. There are nice shops nearby but the homelessness is out of control and the people- sadly-are in such a bad place but it makes walking around with kids feel unsafe and unpleasant. The staff was fine, not overly friendly but did their jobs. The room was a bit outdated but it was quiet.

The Hoxton is alright. It's a hipster hotel trying to hard to be a hipster hotel. They gave us two White Claws at checkin. That was a first. Our room was small. Super small. Like fighting NYC's tiny rooms for smallest space still rentable. Honestly nothing really bad to say. Nothing super good either. Other than you could actually get the room very dark at night. Bonus points for that. The mini fridge didn't work. The light switches were bananas. We finally got it sorted on our way out the door. They sell corduroy hats embroidered with the word tacos on the front in the lobby. The location is convenient to lots of unhoused people and we got to see some hard drug use, a dog being beaten and many, many people screaming at their demons. I wouldn't stay here again, but I didn't hate it. But I didn't like it either.

Centrally located downtown within walking distance to various attractions, including Powell’s Books (of course), The Portland Art Museum and the farmer’s market on the campus of Portland State. Nice rooms, friendly and helpful staff, lively lobby bar and good complimentary coffee by the registration area. Valet parking was also solid. We enjoyed our stay.
