Beautiful property in an epic location. Staff was very friendly and helpful, spa was simple but beuatiful (love the geothermal fed outdoor hot pool), restaurant was delicious with great views of the plain below, and we were able to go on a big gorgeous hike out our back window. Felt like a special place to spend our first night in Iceland.

Room was great, as was the spring fed pool. I’m site restaurant was very good as well. Fitness equipment is well below average for a hotel of this quality. There was a large event that woke us up several times in the middle of the night as well.

Friendly staff at check-in, great restaurant, clean rooms, beautiful scenery. Be aware there is a geothermal factory very close to the hotel and the pool is not as glamorous and large as it looks. There is nothing in the area but the hotel’s restaurant is very good, makes up for lack of dining options in the area. There is a hiking trail right behind the hotel.

Excellent hotel. Quite limited in terms of menu options in the restaurant, and it is eyewateringly expensive even by Icelandic standards but the location is stunning and the rooms are very nice. The Northern Lights “bar” was a great place to watch the view (and Northern Lignts). We travelled in March and whilst the roads around the hotel were fine and largely cleared of ice the 36 was very tricky to drive. Worth checking the travel news and maybe getting a 4x4 if snow is likely.

Overall an average hotel really. Based on the reviews and photos we expected a lot more, particularly at that price point. Due to availability for 4 people we had to book one of the more expensive rooms. Again for that price point you’d expect a nice and quiet room. Ours was right under the reception area which was quiet noisy and for some reason particularly around 10pm. Rooms clean and good, pool was great with the kids but it looks much bigger on the photos than it actually is. Breakfast was good, dinner was EXPENSIVE! Definitely milking the remote location. Disappointing that the waitress didn’t tell us that we could also order from the (cheaper) lunch/room service menu. Some of the staff were amazing particularly with our kids. Others didn’t seem like they wanted to be there. Overall a good and average but very pricey hotel. Not living up to the hype created on various social posts.
